It is ok to sell not officially released yet dvds here?

Hello All,
Quick question..Is it ok for members here to offer for sale dvds that have not been officially released yet? I noticed 2 items today offered for sale here, Sopranos Season 6 Part 1 and Disney Cars. If you look at DDD you will see both are not scheduled to be released until November. I know many stores get their new releases weeks ahead of the street date so I know it is possible for dvds to be for sale before their release dates. Is it acceptable to deal new releases before they are officially released on this site? I just don't want to break any rules before I purchase one..Any info would be appreciated!

I would think as long as they are official products, there's no problem. DVD Talk is not a retailer, so I don't think they would be bound by release dates by any other than professional courtesy.

My understanding is that sales of legitimate, legal releases of DVDs are fine if someone happens to get them early...But sales of Promotional copies or Screeners are prohibited. This is why users typically trade promos and screeners instead of selling them. So, I think, if someone has acquired a screener or promo copy of a movie like Cars, then selling it would be illegal. If they've obtained a genuine version, then it's okay.

Some of the online retailers occasionally ship stuff early, so its not impossible that people would have legitimate copies of soon to be released titles.
