True, and I did notice that, but I'm intending to catch the attention of those who feel they're now 'done' with said threads.
And actually The Prophecy was not mentioned.
I saw Prophecy in the CC thread, but I believe that refers to Frankenheimer's film, not the one I'm referring to.

Also, I'll mention that, as excom said--

And a nod to MrStayPuft, who also noticed the extra MoH titles at Best Buy (http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showpost.php?p=7382633&postcount=80).

Things will get messy really fast if people make their own posts instead of adding to Speedy's. If people don't want to keep up to date with Speedy's posts, to bad for them. The point of these "one and only one" places of info is so that people only have to go one place for info.

Does anybody know if there are any other Masters of Horror dvds on sale? Mine only had the 2 advertise and 2 mentioned. They didn't have any others in stock.
Thanks

I disagree. These films are "unadvertised". The thread are about the "advertised" sale each week. I would have missed these without this thread. This is not in the ad and therefore needs its own thread. I go to the sale ad thread - look at the ad and then move on - and I bet I am not the only one doing that. I was not interested in the ad at all - this I am. This is a good enough sale to stand on its own anyways. People are always so busy bitching about extra threads, but what does it really hurt. The useless ones disappear fast and the important ones stay up top.

That's ridiculous. Although Speedy posts the circulars he does not label his postings as "advertised" specials only and he has always updated his posting with items that people find in the store that are not part of the published circulars.
And if people look at the ad and then move on, just as they may look at the first posting in any bargain and ignore all of its replies, then they deserve to miss out. The whole point of this forum is to group like-minded bargains together. That's why unadvertised bargains belong in a topic clearly f***ing labeled "Best Buy Prices: October 22 - October 28, 2006" just as well as advertised ones do. And I don't feel like having to read a handful of different Best Buy topics just to find out what their prices are this week because some people are to lazy to read through the whole current Best Buy topic.

Well, by your mentality all the DDD threads about different bargains should be one thread, ditto for amazon, etc. By that mentality we could get this forum down to a dozen or so threads, of course no one would know about half the bargains because the threads would all be extremly long and information would get lost in those threads.

I respectfully disagree. That would mean that I would have to wade through 4-5 pages of people saying "I'm getting this and that" or "Nothing for me this week" in order to catch a single thread about additional titles for sale. I'd much rather read the first thread of 2 seperate postings to get all the titles. Much easier than a "treasure hunt".
Just my $.02

As long as the first post in the original thread is edited (updated) then I'm for adding the titles to the other thread. I'm totally against adding titles as the thread goes along. Shouldn't have to wade through posts like the ones in this thread to see what is on sale.

If we could get the thread titles changed as well, to note their updated status, which, if I've been editing posts correctly, a normal user cannot do, then I'd be all for that as well. Though there, well, unless someone is updating them for speedy, or he's willing to add that much more work of his own accord, well, I dunno how reasonable it is.
Regardless, I know I read speedy's threads as they come out and recheck *his* posts occasionally if I forget what titles I was going to get, or what sale is when, etc. But I, too, do not like to look through 'Oh boy, ___ is on sale' and so on, on the off chance that someone might post some new information. Not to say I take issue with such things, but rather, it's not convenient to have new information buried in the middle of them. Especially once they start reaching 4+ pages.
It seems that it should all be starting from a root of information with all responses being related to detailing things--is this 'the version to get', or 'is there a box set of that series?' or what have you--something you could CTRL-F your way through the thread for. IE, a title already listed. If it isn't listed, you would be forced to at least skim every single post, which doesn't seem too helpful.
But certainly this would work with cardaway's idea, but that's just sort of dumping extra "responsibility" on speedy, which hardly seems fair.
How about a DATE in the thread title so we know which of Speedy's ads you are referring to.
Point taken--though I figured people would just assume it meant currently...

Uh, no.
That would only be my mentality if there were "one and only" topics, constantly updated, for each of those vendors - which there aren't. Speedy does a great job posting the advertised special for three vendors, and always folds unadvertised bargains into his main topics when they are pointed out to him. Why do we need a "bargains not in Speedy's list" when he is so quick to add them to his own when told of them? I'm really surprised why so many people are backing what seems to me to be a really bad idea.
By you're reason, why not have a separate topic for every friggin title ever put on sale at Best Buy because some people are to lazy to read a simple comprehensive list or re-read once they've done so once. Fuck, why have all of that info in one place, so people can easily check it before they drive to Best Buy, when people can try and track down every Best Buy topic in the whole forum, searching for every possible mention of a movie?

I think everyone can take a deep breath, and move past this argument. I think Fangs was reasonable enough in posting this thread, as something of interest to many people may have seemed 'lost' in Speedy's thread.
I think Peep was reasonable enough in questioning the validity of an extra thread on certain items taken from the store-specific weekly threads. And if this happened every week, for every store, for every item of interest, then sure, it would get cumbersome.
But in the end, this may be the only time it happens. Or it may happen again from time to time. But really, it's not the biggest deal in the world.

Thanks to Fangs for the heads-up on the titles not mentioned in Speedy's ad. I found it useful and far more convenient than a potential wade through 5 pages of "I picked up..." and "Any laptop deals, Speedy?" posts.
Cannot believe anyone would take the time to knock a thread that the OP created solely as a service/heads-up to visitors of the forum.

There is almost always more titles in Best Buy multiple X.99 or X for X sales.
Which is why I'm always in favor of only one thread for any one store for any one week.

I agree with TimeandTide. Thanks for the heads-up FF.
I also agree with this
Speedy does a great job posting the advertised special for three vendors, and always folds unadvertised bargains into his main topics when they are pointed out to him. However, since i'm in the camp that doesn't like wading through frivolous comments (and I would say close to 3/4 of the posts after Speedy's first post are), it's presumptuous to assume that Speedy is trolling his threads 24/7 for any sign of relevant information that belongs in his initial post. Also, it's not like FF took information from Speedy's circular thread and reposted it here. These are things that are NOT in the circular.

Another vote here for this thread.
While I agree that it would be unweildly to have a separate thread for every title at every store each week, it is also unrealistic to expect us to read thru every post of long threads.
A separate thread for unique deals at each store each week is totally ok in my book.

Might need to add Target to the title too. Just got back from there. They had a whole section on the DVD wall of $10 dvd's. There was a sign above them that said $10 DVD's. But all them had shelf tags higher than $10. I scanned them first on a Price Checker and the ones I wanted all came up $10.
I picked up:
Blade Runner (Director's Cut)
Transamerica (Lenticular cover)
The Patriot (extended cut)
Romancing the Stone
Chappelle's Show: The Lost Episodes
Also
Halloween H20 - $7.50 (Temporary Price Cut, I think)
I tried taking a picture on my cell, but it's crappy and I can't make them out, but some other's on the $10 wall:
Doogal
Sideways (FS & WS)
History of Violence
Kung Fu Hustle

I had bought the Halloween retrospective at BB for 6.99, but then found it at CC last night for 4.99.

Don't pay any attention to the sticker price... The Hills Have Eyes 2 Disc was stickered at $26.99 here (full MSRP on release date, sheesh) and it rang up $6.99. If you spot a title that you want then you had better snag it before someone else gets to it.
