From time to time special deals / prices will be listed in the Store Notes Section & the in the product price thread that may or may not be available in your specific geographic area. This is due to Regional Market Variations of the nationwide ads that I post and as such, not all deals / prices will be available in all Circuit City stores. Please note that this version of the Circuit City ad originates in the Northeast.

Ask any questions and I'll try to reply as soon as I can.

Note: I am having slowness / connection problems with my main PC and it may have to go into the shop for diagnosing. I will make every attempt to answer questions but until it's issues are resolved, I may not able to answer all questions. Also, the Best Buy thread may be late due to same reason listed above.

Jeezus... looks like I'm going to have to hit CC next Sunday. There are about eight of the five dollar titles that I need.

(I could kick myself for buying that 2-disc TCM at Wal-Mart for thirteen dollars last year.)

No price for The O.C. Season 3? I'm most likely getting it at Target for the bonus disc, but I'm curious how much it'll be here and at Best Buy.

Any deals on desktop computers? Thanks in advance.

Not really.

The one I would recommend if it came in lower $-wise would be the HP but the out the door price is $929.98 before $230 in mail in rebates which makes it about $700.

The lowest priced desktop set is an E-Machine at $719.98 before $150 in Mail in Rebates but I cannot in good conscience recommend that brand. Perhaps their upper end machines are OK but I know too many people who have had problems with their mid to low end machines.

So I didn't find any to recommend.

Thanks, Speedy!

Is this, Halloween: 25 Years Of Terror, the recently released 2-Disc set, which is the documentary? If so, I'm all over it, at $4.99! I am wanting this so bad, and was ready to bite at $19.99!

Well, I paid $20 for it at BB in 2004.:( The $4.99 horror list is mighty impressive. Alas, I already have all of the titles that I would want and paid quite a bit more for them than $5 a pop. Thanks for the prices as always speedy.

I'm definitely getting JLU s1 and Batman Begins s2 but I haven't decided if I'm getting those at the store or online. Probably online.

I will get Monster House and (probably) Reservoir Dogs in the store though. Is that really the Oil can tin? I can't believe they'd sell such such cool packaging for such a low price.

It is a continuing nightmare. I can't play cards or post my threads at DVDTalk or CAG with any reliability.

Last week I lost an entire thread which I had to do over from scratch.

It's coming into the hands of some computer nerds I know. They know more than me and hopefully they can come up with something that I haven't considered. I still believe it's some sort of AOL bug.

That really sucks. Have you tried downloading EWIDO Anti-Spyware? My computer got struck by lightning, which came in through the network adapter card, a few weeks back. It wasn't much to fix, but, I also had the computer repair place upgrade the memory and hard drive, which ended up costing me quite a bit, in the end. They also found that I had quite a few viruses, etc., and cleaned all of that out. They installed this EWIDO Anti-Spyware (it's a free download, with maximum performance for 30 days free), and it seems to keep my computer clean.

You might try that, and see if it helps. I hope you are up and running at "top speed", soon!

CC has unadvertised titles for $4.99. Halloween, Halloween 4 and Halloween 5 (both Divimax) are $4.99. The latter two beat BB by $2.

Digital Groove
10-22-06, 01:37 PM
I picked up Halloween 25 Years Of Horror and Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2 Disc) WITH the metal plate.

Haha, I wasn't expecting them to have it, that was the clincher.

MadonnasManOne
10-22-06, 01:49 PM
I also picked up Halloween: 25 Years of Terror (2-Disc w/slipcover) and Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2-Disc) with Metal Plate!

I got lucky on the Halloween: 25 Years of Terror, because they didn't have it in the $4.99 bin, along with the other titles. They had a list of all the titles available posted on the bin, and it wasn't listed. I decided to check the DVD department, and didn't see it. I finally asked a guy working, if they had any in. He checked his list, and said, "We should have a few". We both went looking, and didn't see it, anywhere. Finally, I heard him say, "Oh, here it is. Looks like the last one". So, needless to say, I walked out happy!

Digital Groove
10-22-06, 01:54 PM
Yeh my 25 Years Of Horror had the slipcase and a free comic apparently inside. IT was the only copy as well. Wasn't in the bin, I had to look behind a few rows of DVDs before I found it.

Portsmouth had about 20 copies of the metal plate Chainsaw in the bin.

No sign of American Werewolf...but they did have the NEW version of Young Frankenstein in the bin (got the last one though), and it's ringing up at 4.99 as part of the sale.

I picked up the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2-Disc set, but how do you keep the metal faceplate on? It isn't attached in any way.

Damn, wish I woulda seen that earlier.

Does the movie edition of Halloween have any bonuses or is it an old barebones release?

I just put mine inside the box. There's no way to keep it on the front that I know of.

The old version is pictured in the ad, but my CC had the new version as part of the sale, so check your store. YMMV :D

Isn't this an odd package to figure out? I thought the new anamorphic version wasn't clearly labeled as such - how can you tell the difference?

The older, non-anamorphic version is the SE, right? So I don't want to get the SE . . .

Thanks

I just bought it and it says ANAMORPHIC 1.85:1

Too bad its MONO though. I'd at least like a 2.0.

Child's Play is Full Screen format, isn't it? I checked my local CC and it just says "standard version" in the description, which I assume means full screen format. Correct me if I am wrong. I did not buy it.

It's only available in Full Screen Format at the moment. The rest of the series is available in WS but the orginal is held by another company which is why we have boxsets of 2,3, and Bride of Chucky but the first one gets no Love.

Went into Circuit City today to pick up the Halloween: 25 Years of Terror dvd. I walked over to check the bins and there was nothing left. I asked one of the clerks if they had anymore of the $4.99 dvds, and I was told along with another woman whom was looking for a Blade 2 that they sold out all the dvds in the 6 bins in one day *Sunday*. The woman asked if they were getting any more in and the guy said no and started to walk off from us. I started to ask if I could get a raincheck, and the guy keep walking off. So the woman and myself went and got someone else to go get the manager. I only go to CC when I have to if the sale is good because their customer service is so bad, it sometimes isn't even worth going in there for the sales. The manager comes over and talks to both of us, tells us that they didn't get that many of the dvds, not even all of them from what my understanding, that they wouldn't be getting any more in, and that he couldn't give us raincheck for the dvds. So I told the manager that I would be taken my bussiness elsewhere because of the customer service, and the fact that they never have enough of their sale items, even after one day of the sale starting.

You are correct. The new version isn't marked as anything "special" or otherwise, the cover is basically the same art with the words "The funniest comedy of all time!" across the top where the Special Editon banner was before. And like snowmaker said, it's clearly labeled anamorphic on the back.

Pity... I think the first one is the best of this series. And I hate full screen formats. Got rid of most of my full screen DVDs during FYE's 4 for 1 trade-in sale.

If you have a BestBuy close by, you can go there asking for a price match. I went to my local CC this Sunday afternoon and did not find any Halloween: 25 Years of Terror dvd in the bin. But my local BB has plenty of them on sale for $6.99. I asked for PM and was approved. The cashier did call for the manager, though. Because BB's Halloween: 25 Years of Terror dvd has a sticker on it saying 2-disc version, which is not shown on CC's ad. I think CC's also selling the 2-disc version but I'm not so sure. Anyhow, since there's only a $2 difference and it was kind of a busy time in BB, the manager did not hesitate in telling the cashier to go ahead and price match that for me.

I picked up Night of the Living Dead (1990) and the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre (with metal face plate), both 4.99, had lots of everything listed. I did notice the horrible customer service as some people have mentioned on here. I was the ONLY person in the store....they must of had 15 people working...anyway, when I went to check out I had to stand there for 5 minutes while this lady talked on the phone. I mean, what the heck were the 14 other people doing that they couldnt check me out...everyone was just wandering around...I hate CC

Last night I bought a copy of Chainsaw with the metal faceplate at the Union Square branch in NYC as they were restocking the sale items. They were putting out a lot of the metal copies but everyone there was buying 1 or more including the person doing the restocking. I couldn't find a copy of Young Frankenstein and will go back later. The staff there have been very helpful when I've needed them to find inventory not on the sales floor.

My brother went into the Fresno store today just to look around. He asked if they were going to restock any of the $4.99 dvds this week since they were all out. The casher stated that after all the complants that they had been getting about not having anymore of them after they sold all of them on Sunday, they were hopfuly going to get more in on Thursday, or that they would hand out rainchecks for up to 3 of the dvds that were on sale. So I may stop by Thursday. I'm not sure after my run in there on Monday. If not, I'll go by Best Buy and see if they will price-point any of the Halloween dvds that they have on sale to what CC is selling them for.

Yes. There should be two stickers on the front of the DVD: One basically says it's packed with extra features, blah blah blah, and the other one says there's a Bonus with more footage or some such thing. The latter sticker is the one that indicates there is a bonus disc inside. If it does not have that sticker, I believe it will not have the bonus disc inside at all. I threw out the wrapping, so I don't know the actual wording on either sticker. My local CC had the price tag stuck over the "bonus" sticker on every copy, but it's clearly visible since it's an orange circle (from what I remember) and it's wider than the price sticker.

ok thanks. mine has the sticker but most of it is covered up with a white circuit city sticker. all of the nacho dvds were like that btw. i can't fathom what goes through their minds when adding their dumb white sticker over it.
