Back To School (Remake) starring Cedric The Entertainer

Yikes.

Plot Outline: A remake of the 80s comedy, where a hedonistic business man enrolls in college to inspire his son -- and for the good times.

I really hope this is a bad IMDB joke.

I remember reading the listing a while back. Yikes, indeed.

The only conceivably good thing about this is that maybe the original will get a proper OAR DVD released to coincide with the remake.

Well, Jackie Gleason's raped corpse is just starting to cooling off, so let's stick it in Rodney Dangerfield's now!

What the heck do you mean? It already has a perfect OAR anamorphic presentation.

My bad, then. I could've sworn that this movie only had a 1:33 DVD. Did it quitely get rereleased? Or did I imagine the whole thing?

Now there is absolutely no reason for the remake to get made.

You were close--BACK TO SCHOOL has always been widescreen on DVD, but the first release was non-anamorphic and framed incorrectly (easily evidenced by letters in the credits being entirely cut off); it was later quietly rereleased as an anamorphic disc with proper framing. That's the one I own and it looks quite nice.
