"Cartoons for Victory"

Wow, that's all I can say. These are WWII shorts from the US and around the world. From Mackinac Media, 142 minutes.

Around 20 cartoons in beautiful condition. It has about 5 "Snafu" cartoons and I compared them with the "The Complete Uncensored Private Snafu-Cartoons from WWII" from Image (Bosko Video).

I am ashamed to say that Images' DVD looks like a 10th generation VHS copy. I compared 2 "Snafus'" from each DVD and it's like night and day. Where as the Images' prints are dark, windowboxed and are all around crappy looking, "CfV" are very clean, bright, NO WINDOWBOXING and when upscaled on a Tosh HD A1...look simply great!

For the measley sum of around $12-15, this is a must for any collector of animation.

Contents:

Camouflage(43) USN
Flight Safety-After the Cut(46)
Flight Safety-Landing Accidents(46)
Snafu-Chow Hound(44)
Snafu-Lecture(44)
Snafu-Spies(43)
Snafu-Censored(45)
Snafu-Booby Traps(44)
Commandments of Health(44)
Bury the Axis(43)
Springman and the SS(45)
Der Schneeman(45)
Capn' Cub(45)
Bugs Bunny Bond Rally(43)WB
Revolt of the Toys(45)
Nimbus Libere(43)
Take Heed, Mr. Tojo!(45)WL
Good Egg(45)WB
Tokyo Woes(45)WB
Return of Mr. Hook(45)WB

Mastered from original 16mm and 35mm film prints, many from the only surviving material, per the back of the DVD.

I'm a happy camper!

This is a great disc. I bought it when it first came out and was in awe of some of the transfers. And some of these shorts haven't been seen since WWII! Great stuff.

I highly recommend the rest of Thunderbean Animation/Mackinac Media Golden Age releases. The Cultoons DVD is a hoot!
