30 Rock - series premiere 10/11/06
It's the other show about an SNL-like program on NBC. Starring Tina Fey (creator and writer of show), Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski and Rachel Dratch.
I thought this pilot was pretty funny, fast-moving, and overall entertaining in character setup and premise. I LOL at quite a few of the jokes and situations.

I've read quite a lot of praise for the show, should be interesting to see if this survives and SNL continues to struggle.

Maybe they will combine this and Studio 60 when one or both peter out later in the season.

I made the mistake of watching this right after I watched Studio 60... THey were too similar for me.. Seemed pretty funny though.. Did anyone else notice either a voice over or minor delay when they first go to the chicken and waffle place?

I thought it was very good. Alec Baldwin was aces, as usual. Tracy Morgan and Tina Fey's scenes together were funny. Jane Krakowski was the weak link, I didn't care for her character at all, and I thought Rachel Dratch was supposed to have a bigger part. Definitely worth watching again.

Rachel Dratch no longer has a role on the upcoming NBC laffer "30 Rock." Instead, she'll have many, many roles.
Dratch was originally tapped to play Jenna DeCarlo, an actress on "The Girlie Show" -- the show-within-a-show on "30 Rock."
But with the focus of "30 Rock" moving away from "The Girlie Show" and more toward the interaction among stars Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan, the show's exec producers decided to scrap Dratch's character.
Instead, Dratch will appear in several episodes in a wide variety of roles. In the "30 Rock" opener, for example, she'll now appear as a cat wrangler (whose felines are needed for a sketch).
"Both Tina and I obviously adore Rachel, and we wanted to find a way in which we could go to her strength," said "SNL" creator Lorne Michaels, who is also an exec producer on "30 Rock." "The way it's been rewritten, it's a much funnier part."
Michaels said some of Dratch's characters, such as the cat wrangler, will return, while others will appear just once.

Saturday Night Live alum Rachel Dratch says she's "bummed out" by the negative spin the press took in response to her being replaced by Jane Krakowski on NBC's new sitcom 30 Rock. The decision actually makes sense, Dratch tells TV Guide.
"The network decided they wanted more of an ingenue, more of a traditional sitcom person," she says. "I'm definitely not an ingenue."
Dratch, whose movie Spring Breakdown is due out next spring, says she will still appear in at least six episodes of 30 Rock.

I laughed out loud at this several times. I really liked the fast pace of the humor. I get the feeling that America will ignore this in much the same that they passed on ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT.
