What will you get first, GOW or COD3?

This is for the Xbox 360. Sorry, should have put that in the title.

I know a lot of DVDTalker's who game together are unsure of which game to buy first, Gear of War or Call of Duty 3. So hopefully this poll will help those on the fence decide. Because plunking down $120 on one day is a bit much unless you can afford it. I made the votes public so people who game together can know what their buddy picked.

Call of Duty is a great series, but not worth $60. I'd rather wait for a sale and get the PC version. I haven't heard much about Gears of War, so I have no interest in that.

GOW. Don't really have a reason, just will.

Gears of War for me. I never cared much for WWII games. I will be sure to remember the PS3 campers sitting outside in the cold while I am inside my warm apartment playing Gears of War.

Here, let me help lift up that rock you've been living under.

I'll be getting both. My GOW collectors edition is paid off and I just traded in Oblivion and a couple other xbox games for a down payment on COD3.

FYI. Gamestop/EBgames is giving and additional 10% on trade-ins towards GOW. That plus the gamer card gives you 20% extra on trade-ins. Not a bad deal for those looking to get GOW. Start paying for these now and make emergence day that much better.

got them both reserved and mostly paid for. So I guess I'll be getting COD3 first since it is released (supposed to anyway) a week before GOW.

COD 3 but JUST because it comes out first. So I'm getting both on release day. November 7th & November 12th. And....
Call of Duty 3 is fully paid for at Game Crazy
Gears of War I owe $5 on at Gamestop

Gears of War all the way. Call of Duty 2 was enough WWII shooting for me. As I mentioned in the main 360 thread, the article on Gears of War in this month's EGM should make everyone who owns a 360 excited about GOW. I could actually see myself using live a lot with GOW, because it's an entirely different kind of game than just another deathmatch.

Depends on the reviews of each. I have seen too many games get hyped only to fall flat on their face. I hope Gears of Wars is great, but I will wait and see.

I didn't realize that the two were being released a week apart. I guess I'll pick up both right away then and move some HD DVDs to my Christmas list.

GoW. I'm not big on franchises that rehash the same shit yearly. I loved COD2, but I'm in no big rush to jump into a $60 sequel. I'd rather see 1-2 iterations of a franchise per generation, ala Nintendo(Mario Party aside). Make 1-2 great games in 5 years, not 5 good games in 5 years.

The only [almost] yearly franchise I'm a sucker for is Burnout. So far they have brought enough new features to the table each time to warrant a purchase.

Actually it looks like COD3 might be too different for some people from the previous versions, at least the online part. Check out the review here that was also posted in the Compendium thread.

Totally. And even if they could do 5 GREAT games in 5 years, I'm still not going to want to play them. I need a break from series before popping back into a sequel...usually a break of a few years.

I'm hoping to get both on release day, but if I have to choose one, it'll be GOW. I'm worried about Call of Duty 3, because of the developers, and the fact that vehicles have been added into the multiplayer (ugh...)

I'm going with gears. SImply because it's a TPS, not a FPS.

CoD3 for sure. GoW looks interesting, but I need to read some hands-on reviews before I purchase it.

Both, although I'm sure the shear amount of awesomeness from both games will make my 360 explode.

You know what.. I was always saying that I was going to get CoD3 on release but not I'm not sure.. I mean.. $60 is a buttload of money for a game and unless I KNOW it will be awesome I don't want to pull the trigger. I only bought one game so far at full price and that was GRAW only because it was my first game..

I'm thinking I may wait until both games are out and I see the reviews for both games (especially the reviews from the DVDTalkers). Will I be left out while others are playing these new games for a few weeks?? Sure, but for the money.. It's something I guess I have to do.

I just got Dead Rising for $35 (used) so I guess I'll play that while you guys are reviewing the two games for me!
