Garfield - A Tale of Two Kitties (Kids Turn it Off)

I usually don't share tales from my personal DVD life, but I had to share this one. Yesterday we got a screener for Garfield - A Tale of Two Kitties. My kids (aged 7 and 5) put it on with some level of excitement. They actually, for some unknown reason LIKE the first Garfield.

Well about half way through Garfield 2, the both come to me and ask me to shut it off. "It sucks" says my daughter. "Soo bad" says my son.

So if you were thinking of picking this up for your kids, my two kids both give it a Skip It.

This is actually helpful. My kids liked the first flick as well, and were looking forward to this one.

Could you ask them if there was very much edge enhancement, and whether or not the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack was aggressive in the rear channels?

This is so weird, the exact same thing happened to me. I typically put aside kid's movies for Saturday night when we have friends over for movie night, and two weeks ago, it was GARFIELD: A TALE OF TWO KITTIES. My kids, 5 and 7, were excited, but after about only 15 minutes, they were suddenly in the den. "What's wrong?", I asked. "We don't like the movie.", they replied. I had to go into my stash (which isn't that deep) and bring out another movie for them. Since that night, they haven't asked about it again. Is there anything harsher than SKIP IT? How about, I got it for free and my kids want their money back?

Yeah I have to say this is the lowest rating my kids have ever given a DVD, and they've watched some pretty awful crap.

How can it not be good? Didn't Roger Ebert give it a thumbs up?

He did, and Richard Roeper gave him the appropriate amount of hell for it.

he also gave 3 stars to van helsing.. which is my all time worse (**(&*) movie that I have ever seen in my life.

I liked garfield 2. I thought it was better then the first one.. the animation on garfield was much better.

Good kids. You might want to hold on to those two.
