I just finished re-reading Heinlein's "Friday" and am now reading "The Complete Assignment in Eternity Stories" which contains at least one character from Friday. I don't think this is a re-read.... just a volume that entered late into my collection and has sat undisturbed for some time.

After owning it for over two years, I finally started The Count of Monte Cristo (unabridged) by Alexandre Dumas.
Although I'm only about 40 pages in, I'm liking it (looooved the latest film adaption). But I'm a pretty slow reader and this book is almost 1500 pages long, so expect to see this book posted in the November and December threads.

Well the new Showtime series DEXTER is a fantastic new show. Yesterday I just picked up the two Jeff Lindsay Dexter trade paperbacks and I am excited about this character! Anyone read the books and if so will the book ruin the cable show for me?

Just finished "Off Season" by Jack Ketchum.
Gonna start "The Girl Next Door" by Jack Ketchum, then "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, and "Twisted Tales" by Brandon Massey.

This is my first post in a what are you reading? thread. I heard on Oprah that after age 20 you lose 50,000 brain cells every day. They suggested reading and doing crossword puzzles as a way to exercise your brain. After hearing that, I decided to read at least two books a month with a goal of reading a book a week. I started out with something light last week Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone. I really liked the first one and I am currently reading the second book Chamber of Secrets. I plan on reading A Long Way Down after I finish it.

If you have a commute to work you should try listening to audio books as well.
As for my reading enjoyment this week I'm going to try to conquer this again:

Finally read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell, which is honestly one of the best books I've read in a VERY long time. Awesome.
I didnt know Neil Gaiman had a new book out. (Is that one new? It's at least one I haven't read. Will have to investigate that.)
