Cash Cab on Discover Channel

I've got a little TV in my office that I keep one while I'm working during the day, and one day I happened upon "Cash Cab" on the Discovery Channel.

Have any of you seen this show?

It's awesome!

I loved the one with the little old ladies from Brooklyn that got kicked out after getting three strikes. That was priceless!

Yep, I have become a big fan as well. I swear Discovery Channel is all of my live viewing these days: FBI Files, Against the Law, Cash Cab, New Detectives, etc.

It's one of those shows I don't go out of my way to watch, but I get hooked if I happen to flip past it. It's such a great concept for a game show.

Anyone else watch Cash Cab?

Anyone watch this little game show that comes on Discovery Channel? The premise is the host drives a cab around NY and picks up unsuspecting passengers, who then become contestants on an impromptu quiz show.

This show is so great. Very simple concept that works because the people seem to be genuinely excited and it's fun to play along at home. Plus the host is pretty likeable. When the contestants get a decent amount of money in the bank, I can help but root for them, and I always feel crushed if they lose it on the double or nothing. Ok, not crushed but mildly bummed.

Cash Cab

Hey, anyone here watch Cash Cab on Discovery? I recently found out about this type of game show. Now I am addicted to this as well as Dirty Jobs and Surviviorman and the other ones, (Deadliest Catch and Lobster Wars). Could you imagine hailing this cab and entering a game show? How do you think YOU'D do if you were answering the questions?

I started a thread a year ago (with little response), but I do enjoy the show.

Haven't seen it in awhile, but when I do come across it, I linger for awhile.

Unlike project86, I get about 80% of the questions right.

I get almost all of the questions correct, as well. They rarely get to the difficult questions ($100+).

It's a nice show when there's nothing else on.

Re: Cash Cab on Discover Channel

Ben Bailey is back in the driver’s seat for Discovery’s revival of Cash Cab. The comic who hosted more than 200 episodes of Discovery’s original 2005-12 series, will be back at the wheel for the return ride later this year.

“Holy #%$&! Cash Cab is back!” Bailey said. “Huge thanks to all the fans who pushed for the show (and for me) to come back! Never before has a comedian been so happy to go back to driving a cab. OMG, I think I left the meter running!”

Bailey again will drive that cab that takes unwitting passengers on the ride of their life. Dodging New York City traffic, and possibly joined by a guest celebrity, they will take on classic Cash Cab trivia en route to their destination. If they get stumped, pedestrians and friends can help them out via phone, text or social media. If the riders get three questions wrong, though, they’re out on the street.

Bailey has guested on multiple TV series and has done a pair of Comedy Central stand-up specials and others for Netflix and Amazon.

Comedian David Steinberg helms the new Cash Cab, with All3Media’s Lion USA producing. Executive producers are Tony Tackaberry, Allison Corn, John Slaughter and Bailey, with Robyn Todd as co-executive producer.

Re: Cash Cab on Discover Channel

CC lasted from 2005-2012?? I had no idea its run was that long. With more than 200 episodes, why do I mainly only see Mythbusters reruns on Discovery?

Didn't Mythbusters reruns move to Science Channel?

Looking at Discovery's schedule for this week, it looks like it's been overrun with survival style shows.

There's still a ton of cabs in NYC, and switching to an app would change how they do casting for contestants on this show. Right now, they interview people on the street to see if they'd be a good fit before they hop into the cab. With an app, they wouldn't really have a way to interview the contestants ahead of time.
