Saw this in the ad today and thought it was a great deal. The brand is Memorex which I know they aren't as good as Verbatims, but for someone like me who is still using a 4x dvd-r burner I figured they'd do the job.

EDIT: Looks like it's the +r's too.

Must be a regional thing. I just looked at my ad online and I see a 50-pack for $12.98, and 100 cd-rs for the same price.

EDIT: I take that back.. There's another listing on page 3. I'll probably go pick some of these up today before they run out.

This is supposedly a printing error - most OM are not honoring the price. Correction notices are up in most stores according to other forums. Price is $30 online.

Then try and pricematch it, that might work...

EDIT: Looks like alot of people are having luck price matching it to Staples and Office Depot, with a 110% pricematch, some are getting it for $5 + tax.

I walked past an OfficeMax today.... they had the correction rather prominently displayed.

I too went to office max & they had a correction sign placed in front of the dvd-r's... new price $24.99 not $9.99...

so I took the ad to office depot and they honored the $9.99 price!

they kept my ad copy...

I went to Staples and tried to PM the DVD +Rs...the cashier said they weren't the same and I pointed out that the ad stated +Rs too so she went to her manager. Manager then came by and showed the cashier what she needed to do for the PM and I was on my way! Thanks OP.

I didn't push for the 110% at Office Depot. I was happy to get them for $9.99. The cash register complained to the clerk and she called her manager over. The manager just inserted a key and typed something and that was that. Good deal. Thanks OP, I hadn't looked at the OM ad closely.

I PM'd these today at Staples and it went smooth as can be. I was pleasantly surprised when the total rang up at $5.24. Many thanks OP!

Maybe it has to do with people's experiences with Memorex media...

Memorex 16x DVD-R (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?dvdmediasearch=memorex&dvdmediadvdridsearch=&type=1&size=All&dvdburnspeed=16&order=Name&hits=50&search=Search+or+List+Media)
Memorex 16x DVD+R (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?dvdmediasearch=memorex&dvdmediadvdridsearch=&type=3&size=All&dvdburnspeed=16&order=Name&hits=50&search=Search+or+List+Media)

relative to recognized good media such as Verbatim.

Verbatim 16x DVD-R (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?dvdmediasearch=verbatim&dvdmediadvdridsearch=&type=1&size=All&dvdburnspeed=16&order=Name&hits=50&search=Search+or+List+Media)

Price-matched at Office Depot in St Louis without a problem. Their "everyday" price is $72.99. They wanted to keep my copy of the ad, so I said "sure".

Hmmm. One chain releases an "incorrect" ad then fails to honor it by declaring it a misprint, perhaps knowing that their competitors will be forced to pricematch said ad and lose money. Intentional, or am I just a big cynic?

I don't think most stores had that many on the shelves to begin with so even spread across the entire chain, they probably didn't loose enough to be significant in whole scheme of things (at least for big box stores). And even so, a lot of the competitors refused price match. I really doubt it was intentional.

I tired to PM at a few places, and they all called Office Max to verify. So congrats to those of you that went to stores with relaxed staff. Damn it.
