My Name is Earl vs The Office at Best Buy

If you could only buy one, would you buy the awesome My Name is Earl Season 1 set at Best Buy with the flannel shirt and CD, or The Office set with the Dunder Miflin paraphenalia?

The Office, but that is because I'm a bigger fan of that show. I like Earl, however.

(Plus you get Season 1 of the Office with the set.)

Well, The Office set is just the type of Gimmick that gets to me, like the Office Space Best Buy set. The My Name Is Earl set, while cool, can't compare. The only time exclusives get better is when there is an extra DVD with something cool on it (Friday The 13th comes to mind) or a slipcase for multiple movies (Kill Bill) If only the Best Buy Star Wars was of quality, and not hokey.

I personally think Earl is one of the two best shows on TV (along with !BG)...whereas I thought the Office was just boring and did not like it much at all. You can guess where my preferences lie in the poll.

Target's "Office" season 2 has additional DVD content and DVD content wins every time as far as I'm concerned.

The Office, hands down. It's a better show than Earl and it also includes Season 1.

I watched the first season of "The Office" this week.

Steve Carrell's "Michael" is so over the top it's annoying.

The rest of the characters (with the exception of Jim, Pam and Dwight) are just kind of "there".

There's not much to be found in terms of laughs, other than the occasional chuckle. Not having seen "My Name Is Earl", I can only HOPE that it would be better than "The Office".

While I admit that the show isn't for everyone, this review is atypical. I personally find the show absolutely hilarious, and to say that a farce is "over the top" is a bit anacronistic and pedantic.

The "rest of the characters" definitely shine in the 2nd season, Damed. Carrell's Michael Scott becomes awfully sympathetic (as well as awfully pathetic!) as the episodes go on. I really recommend trying the 2nd season at some point.

I find that strange, as I watched it with my wife and she felt exactly as I do..

..which is why I said "so over the top [/b], meaning I would expect him to be over the top, but he pushes it past humour into annoyance territory.

I've tried The Office a few times and just don't enjoy it. Earl, on the other hand, is pure genius in my mind.

The show doesn't hit its stride until the second season. I liked Season 1 OK, but they fine-tuned the characters and improved the writing considerably for Season 2.

You might still not like it, but you should check out some of the second season.

The Office for sure. Earl is amusing enough, but I think it's a smidge overrated. The Office has only improved since it started.

I didn't even know about the Office exclusive, but when I saw it I was even happier I'd never bought the S1 disc. 43 bucks is pretty good for both seasons and the extra stuff. But I'm also going to get My Name is Earl next week. Are there any photos of they're exclusive? It should come with a fake Earl moustache.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Alternate Reality version of the Pilot in which Earl takes Stewie Griffin as his role model instead of Carson Daly.
