'Til Death premiere (09/07)
Anyone catch this? While it certainly wasn't high caliber comedy, it had it's moments. Brad Garrett was great. I never watched him on Everybody Loves Raymond, but always thought he was funny. Best line of the night was the "there's a reason china rhymes with vagina".

Yeah, the laugh track is annoying, as it is with any show.

I liked it. Will probably keep watching it. Happy Hour after it was horrible, as I mentioned in the pilots thread. But I won't be watching that anyway once the office starts up in a few weeks.

Seriously, how does shit like this get on TV?
I have absolutely no doubt I can write funnier than this. And I can barely write...

Being married, I thought it was decent. I'm sure single guys won't find it as funny.
The show after it, Happy Hour, was just terrible though! I couldn't even get through the whole episode. Nothing worse than adding a laugh track to things that are not even funny.

FOX came in third with the premieres of "'Til Death," 5.6/10, and "Happy Hour," 4.6/8. ABC was fourth with a "Grey's Anatomy" rerun, while "Smallville" pulled down a 1.2/2 for The WB.

I thought it was funny, but the laugh track was annoying. I though it was reminiscent of "The Honeymooners", but maybe that's because Brad Garrett played Gleason in that made-for-TV movie a couple of years ago. I'm not a prude, but I also think it's on a little too early to have words like "douchebag" and the "Woodcock" jokes.
"Happy Hour" was terrible.

Since I haven't watched a sitcom since Will & Grace, how exactly is the laugh track different from what I hear on a Friends, Seinfeld, Will & Grace, etc.? Or are you just saying that studio audience laughter / laugh tracks are annoying?

This show was OK. The pool table gag was a less funny rendition of a Seinfeld episode, but there were some funny lines.
Happy Hour was a steaming pile, I think I laughed once, the rest of the time I was trying to figure out how crap like that gets on the air.

Heh, apparently I was the only one that thought Happy Hour was better of the two. I'll probably watch both until more shows get started. I thought the funniest part of Til Death was Joely Fisher watching Ellen, which wasn't even the joke.
I don't see much potential for either show. I like Brad Garrett, but but there wasn't anything original about this show. Maybe if they spend some more time in the school. Same goes for Happy Hour except that I'm actually curious what it's going to be like when that guy goes to work.

Anyone see the new Brad Garrett show "Til Death"? I thought it was a little shaky for the setup, but it gained some momentum, some footing towards the end of the initial episode. Garrett has decent chemistry with Eddie Kaye.

My wife and I watched it and thought it was terrible. I also mentioned to her that I don't think I have watched a show with a laugh track in years and found it incredibly annoying. Do they just reuse the same laugh track for every show. The canned laughter sounded exactly like the tracks on Scooby-Doo of all things!
And the kid from American Pie was way over-acting and was pretty awful. He was the worse part of the show besides the lack of laughs.
It seems they included every semi-humorous bit in the promos and left nothing for the show. Glad I can already dump one. I tried to watch Happy Hour but made it less than 10 minutes before I had to turn it.
I think I have been spoiled by shows like South Park and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. I don't know if I can watch a traditional sitcom anymore if this is the average.

Thought it was so-so. Probably give it another week or so to see if it gets any better.
My DVR cut it off a bit early, though... what happened after they started playing pool and the rack of cue sticks fell on Garret's character?

Wow.. Usually I share very similar views to the majority of people on this board, but not this time. I thought 'Till Death was nothing special although Brad Garrett did get about two laughs out of me with his facial expressions, but I loved Happy Hour. I hope it stays on to be my guilty pleasure for this year. It reminds me a lot of The Loop, not a great show or writing, but pretty damn funny.
