I meant the original Les Visiteurs, which I thought was the one with Jean Reno. (I guess Just Visiting, the remake, has him as well.

Sorry, I forgot the remake was titled Just Visiting. They both have Jean Reno. I liked Les Visiteurs. They are similar movies, but Les Visiteurs is definitely French comedy.

Ordered Outrageous Fortune (5.55) and Hot Lead & Cold Feet (10.80). Thanks OP. I wish more of the 60's Disney comedies would drop in price. They're bare bones, generally full-screen and most of them are still more than a ten spot.

In a way I wish DDD would go out of business. Another 100.00 in DVD's today. I am not looking forward to the next 20% off sale. As long as it is running on or after 11/7 I will be a happy camper.

I remember when the titles for a lot of the 70's live action stuff was cheap, I had seen the same discs at Costco and figured that with the sales tax, they'd be like $1 cheaper, and I wouldn't have to wait for them to be shipped.

Then I went back to Costco and the display was gone. And when I logged back in to DDD, the sale was over.

A lot of these movies I really do like, but I've seen them umpteen times.

Not sure if I'd actually watch them on disc, yet, I'd watch them if they popped up on Disney or Hallmark or something...

I ended up with:

KING ARTHUR (UR/WS) $ 6.94
HEAVENLY CREATURES $ 5.55
ROCKETEER, THE $ 6.94
STRAIGHT STORY, THE $ 10.80
MY LEFT FOOT (CE) $ 10.80
HEAVEN $ 6.94
TRAINSPOTTING (CE) (2D) $ 10.80
CON AIR (UR) $ 10.80
CRYING GAME (CE), THE $ 9.28

Total = 78.85

Does anyone know how long the sale will go?

according to the email that was sent to me,the offer is valid through 9/30/06

again, i think people should think twice before they consider this is a "bargain".99% if not ALL the titles priced at 6.94 were for 5.99 back in april/may and i would buy some of the 10.80 titles but why bother when actully most of these will be priced at 6-7 in a few months when their prices eventully drops.i'll probably end up buying some of the 5.55 titles.but that's just me.

Trying to decide whether to pick up White Fang at 6.94 even though it's not OAR (DDD incorrectly lists it as widescreen). Anyone know firsthand whether it is open matte or pan and scan?

And yes, I know that there is a different region release available in widescreen.

And last November they were $5.99 and buy-2-get-1. But these are still good prices if you didn't get in on those sales.

Animatedude is correct to mention previous sales - it is reasonable to expect that if prices have been better in the past, then they are are likely to be so again in the future. For those of us who are patient, holding off is the better choice.

What about the pre-release of Cry Baby Killer / Little Shop Of Horrors (Back To Back Jack Edition) for $10.80? That seems like a great deal, though I can't find any details on the technical aspects. This release could be in response to the recent colorized/bw release of LSOH, but it's probably safe to assume that the Buena Vista release will be better than the 'public domain' issues. Plus Cry Baby Killer!!!

I checked the lists and couldn't find a single DVD I wanted at the current prices. Moreover, the prices in this DDD sale are higher than their last sale with the same DVDs. $10.80 now instead of $10.44 and $5.55 instead of $5.08. Also be careful with Buena Vista as many of their discs are the definition of bare bones, single layer, non-anamorphic transfers, especially many of the old Disney live action films which are some of my favorites. Always go to DVD-Basen or UltimateDisney.com to read reviews first.

Widescreen anamorphic and dual layer are my minimum requirements for any DVD purchase over $5, so I've been forced to pass on many Disney movies I'd love to own.

My guess is that if you are on the fence about some of these, they may reappear in a better sale. You'd think DVD prices should be dropping more instead of going up. Just my 2 cents.

Don't be a menace was never in the previous sales for 5.99, so 6.94 is a good price for that movie if you like it.
