$13 per collection (1/3 season), which equals $39 per season. (edit - for seasons 1, 2, 3).

Oops - thanks New Rambler.

It's about the cheapest that I've seen Farscape DVDs.

Be careful though, these (I only checked the first) appear to be the crappy early editions:

includes 7 complete episodes on two double-sided discs

Maybe they just haven't updated their descriptions?

They may very well be the early versions. ADV often uses their sales to dump their obsolete and soon to be obsolete inventory - usually with punch-outs and slashmarks.

Plus, their customer service ranks at or below the level of DVDsoon - if your order is screwed up, you might as well plan on either bending over and taking it, or having to use your credit-card's dispute policy.

Bestbuy.com still sends out 1.1, 1.2 and 2.1 at 6.99 (!) and I ordered them myself and can testify that they are the 4 disc (yes, starburst) editions.
Currently, I also pulled the labor day weekend 10% off coupon (they're 19.99 instore) and got 3 more volumes at my local store at 17.99 each.
They shift between 21.99, 18.99 and 16.99 for all the various bits and pieces on amazon as well, changing almost daily...

Have you guys had problems with the double-sided versions? I keep hearing that, but all of mine are fine.

FangsFirst, is that $6.99 deal available all the time? Do you have a link please?

Yeah Best Buy has had those 3 for $6.99 for some time. I just checked the site and they are indeed $6.99.

I can attest that those original Starbust editions are terrible. There are several episodes I can't get to play, and I've tried multiple DVD players and my DVD drive. $6.99 sounds about right.

hopefully that will work--you'll see that it really is just 1.1, 1.2 and 2.1 for some peculiar reason.
The rest are 19.99 apiece. Be warned, they did charge me both tax *and* shipping, but both were minimal (I got all three of the 6.99 sets and it totalled $28.xx, which is still better than anywhere else by a fair bit).

I've been picking and choosing sources though, getting some from amazon, some at work (borders), some instore at best buy etc.
If you're patient and constantly have funds, keep them in your cart at amazon without ordering, they *might* go as low as 16.99 apiece, but lately they've been hovering at 18.99 and 21.99.

All of my "sources" have had 4 disc versions only, and luckily not a single 2 disc version (and so far no play issues, though 1.3 had a peculiar issue where it would shut off once it reached the menu intro as Pilot says "Prepare for immediate starburst!"...but that could be skipped and the episodes and features played fine.)

Good luck to anyone else finally getting around to this bloody wonderful series!

I've never had a problem with a double sided disc, Farscape or otherwise.

I guess it's sheer luck. My DVD player is old, laughably so, but all my Farscape discs have been problem-free.

Thanks for all the info. I've been wanting to get a loaner set for a while now. I thought $13 was good, but bestbuy seems even better.

I hate ADV
I spent about 660 dollars buying these all individually right when they came out

41 DVDs in 26 sets (plus the movie) it takes up nearly a whole shelf

I unloaded mine and re-bought the Starburst versions. More extra features, and costs a heck of a lot less!

I promised myself I would not pay any more money for Farscape for at least 2 generations
I'll get the double dip HD-DVD

It looks like you'll be able to swap out the DVD-18s with the new four-disc DVD-9 editions directly with ADV, if you don't mind the wait and hassle.

But they're so pretty!

I went ahead and ordered from bestbuy too. You can never have too much Farscape.

I bought the complete 3rd season from suncoast a few years ago. It was on sale. Haven't been able to afford seasons 1 & 2. So I ordered

Farscape 1: Starburst Edition [2 Discs]-DVD

Farscape 2: Starburst Edition 2 (2 Disc)-DVD

Farscape 4: Starburst Edition 2.1 (2 Disc)-DVD

Hope they are the 4 Disc Editions!

They do look nice. I don't really like the art on the Starburst sets. It would've been better to do art that continued across the whole series I think.

Instead of by season?
Or do you mean the front covers?

Yeah, I mean the spines. I guess they look ok, but it would look nicer if the graphics continued accross the entire series, not just by season.

Oh yes. If you haven't had problems, consider yourself very lucky. I had two sets that were two disc DVD-18s (1.2 and 2.3) and both had a defective disc (got most of mine from DDD). The second one locked up my machine completely.

I sent them back to ADV for replacement two weeks ago, per their instructions, but haven't received the new ones yet of course. No problems with the four disc sets I have watched thus far, but I am stuck in the series until I get the replacement 2.3 set.

Definitely a PITA.

You're not able to watch the end of season 2? My sincere sympathies! That's where things get really amazing. I hope your replacements come soon.

As to the artwork, if you line up the spines of the Starbursts they show Moya going into starburst. Heh.
