Thanks for the numbers! Nothing too impressive to see...

Some of those I'll just wait to buy on DVD. And the one I'm looking forward to seeing the most is World Trade Center.

Looks as if the theaters are empty, and the #1 movie might not even make $10M for the Fri-Sat-Sun totals.

Summer's over. Time to gear up for Thanksgiving.

You can thank the NFL for that.

I would think that it has more to do with the fact that summer is ending and folks would like to spend that last chance to do summer activities such as beach, BBQ's and drinking in any shape or form.

That and it's the end of summer so it's time for studios to take out the trash and dump their crappy films for some profit.

You can thank the NFL for that.

Why? The preseason ended Thursday and the regular season doesn't start until next Thursday.

Wow, Beerfest already left the top 10.

This Holiday weekend is never really that steller in box office numbers anyways.

I wonder what effect the weather has. I know one big movie's opening numbers were skewed because of a huge snowstorm... I wonder if the hurricane did anything. When people cancel travel plans they may just decide to go to the movies. Or stay in alltogether. I don't know.

Mr. Cinema

Not much I don't think. Labor Day weekend is always weak. Transporter 2 has the all-time Labor Day 4-day opening record and that's only $20 million.

I would go with the start of college football instead.

There weren't any press screenings of the film. In a way I'd like to check the film out, but I don't want my memory of the original classic warped. Reviews of the remake in Britain say its' mostly shit.

It's up for me, and it's still showing $970. $414 Domestic + $556 International.

I'll say it again - wow :)
Pirates will certainly pass the international take of LOTR: Two Towers (in fact may have done already) and will probably surpass Harry Potter internationally as well. (That made $600m-ish).

It already did. (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/)

Next up is Return of the King. It'll pass that one too, possibly. But it has no chance against Titanic.
