I also liked the first one, but I think it would benefit from added scenes the way DareDevil benefited. The sequel sounds promising.

The first one was nothing special, but it was entertaining. I hope this one is executed well... only to pave way for Galactus

I thought the first one was a dumb man's interpretation of the FF. Just awful.

However, I am looking forward to the sequel. I didn't like the first Spider-Man nor the first X-Men but I loved their sequels. Hoping we get the REAL Fantastic Four this time.

For me, the first FF was probably one of Marvel's most enjoyable films. Not exactly a great movie by any means, but really entertaining. So I am very excited about this next one. Especially with the Silver Surfer playing a major role!!! Yay! Bring on Galactus!

So is it a trend now not to put numbers in sequels?

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Ice Age: The Meltdown
Rocky Balboa
Live Free Or Die Hard

Add The Dark Knight and The Incredible Hulk to that list. I guess the marketing wizards are seeing if this approach helps the box office numbers. I guess not having a number after the title somehow makes the series seem fresh instead of just a typical sequel.

I guess this means that we can kiss goodbye any solo SS movie. BTW, I'm not hugely familiar with the Marvel universe, but I don't recall SS "wreaking havoc" on earth prior to Galactus' arrival.

So, is it the Jack Kirby Silver Surfer or the Moebius Silver Surfer?

I don't really consider this any kind of recent trend. Many sequels, perhaps even most sequels, have been unnumbered throughout movie history (some early movie serials notwithstanding). Now that I think about it, I can't think of a sequel made before the mid-to-late seventies that ever used a number.

And, to be honest, I much prefer non-numbered sequels, unless there is a specific reason to number them (such as where the movies are part of a larger single story).

But back on topic, I loved the first movie (I guess I'm easily amused when it comes to comic action films), and can't wait for the unnumbered sequel.

Where the heck have you been? It is rare now to see a number in a sequel.

The new title sounds very Stan Lee-esque. Could be cool.

I thought the Silver surfer was a good guy. Like Frozone from the Incredibles.

Well, kinda. I never really follow Fantasy Four or Silver Surfer comics... But I think Silver Surfer was bad when Fantasy Four met him and somewhat they turned him to good side.

Originally, Silver Surfer was a bad guy. Galactus turned him into his herald, turning his skin into indestructible silver and giving him his abilities along with his surfboard which allows him to fly at the speed of light. As herald to Galactus, the Surfer would scout out different planets and prepare them to be sucked dry (eaten) by Galactus, Devourer of Worlds.

Then Surfer rebelled against Galactus and became enemy to him, eventually becoming a good guy.

I'm really stoked that the Silver Surfer is in the new sequel but why have Doom return??? Dumb. They should have Galactus there instead.

Anyhow, I'll be there to see this movie definately.

I thought the Fantastic Four movie was unfairly bashed. It was a fun popcorn flick.

I read somewhere the rumor that
Spoiler:
Galactus will appear at the end of the movie

Almost. If it was "Fantastic Four: If This Be The Rise of the Surfer" it would be Stan Lee-esque.

If he shaved his head, Robert Patrick could nail the role!

If it has Galactus as a third act villain, that could be ultra-cool. Another possibility is Galactus arriving at the end of part two and setting up three. Don't think that will happen unless they do two and three together though.
