Robotech:The Shadow Chronicles finally gets a date 06 Feb 2007

This brand new sequel to the classic series will finally get a release on DVD. The film itself has actually been done for some time, but has been stuck in negotiation limbo until very recently. The film is about 88 min, and if it's successful, it should lead to more direct to video films or new episodes of a series.
My wife is an oldschool Robotech fan, and will be very glad to finally see this thing.

This finally came out on Tuesday. The storyline and traditional animation is pretty good. The CG animation is not the greatest. It just does mesh well with the 2d animation. Hopefully it will improve if they do a new series or a few more movies. It was very nice to hear some of those voices again. Did anyone else pick this up?

I did as soon as I saw it yesterday. It was pretty good as a bridge from old to new, but there were a few things missing. I would have liked to have heard more old music, even re-orchestrated and I agree on the 2-D/3-D mesh. If a series comes out of this, that'll be great. Nice use of the original voice talent in most cases as well!

I didn't really recognize it either - I guess playing Rick Hunter as a teen versus the older man he is now may be too hard a transition for us and Tony.

You can get it online using Google Checkout for $9.99 at places like DVD Planet, Buy.com, and DVD Empire. B&M are all pretty much $19.99 I think.
