There's really too many to pick just one, but during a solo tour a few years ago he performed a very stripped down and emotional version of Burnt Sugar Is So Bitter.

My wife and I had just patched up a potential divorce situation, and as I sat there with her - enjoying our renewed relationship - the broken home lyrics of that one really struck me hard, especially:

"And once there was a time
Before you turned strange
She thought they'd be together
For more than a lifetime
Look at them now
My, how things have changed
"

It still gives me chills whenever I hear it. Did that one ever end up on CD? I have a couple of live boots, but that's it.

Yep. Steve backed on piano, but for a part of the show it was just E. I guess 'acoustic' tour would have been more appropriate.

My most chilling Costello concert moment was when he sang Couldn't Call It Unexpected No.2 acapella with no mic from the edge of the stage at the Wiltern in LA. The line "I can't believe, I'll never believe in anything again" is one of the saddest lines ever in a pop song.

There was a commercial release of 5 shows from the Costello/Nieve tour and one of them is the Park West show but it doesn't include "Burnt Sugar" Each show is only 30 min or so I'm guessing that they aren't the full shows just select songs from each performance. The version of "Ship of Fools" I refered to in my first post is from the same tour.

I think Veronica and Radio Radio are the only two I know. They win by default.

I'll have to look for those. What are/were they called?
In my 30+ years of countless concerts, that Park West show was easily in my top three of all time.

I could list hundreds of great songs, but I'll just mention my all-time fave-Almost Blue. I saw Elvis back in '83 during his "Imperial Bedroom" tour with Talk Talk as the warm-up. It still ranks as one of the better shows that I ever attended.

Since they're re-re-re-releasing everything else, why not release these again for those that missed out?

Ahhh...What the hell do I care? I've got my set, and that's all that matters!

As for the question at hand, I could spend all night listing my favorite Costello songs, so I'll just try to go off the top of my head. (Of course, the easiest answer would be "All of King of America and Get Happy")

I Want You
Possession
I'll Wear It Proudly
Suit of Lights
Indoor Fireworks
Man Out of Time
Our Little Angel
Radio Sweetheart
Cheslsea
Heathen Town
Party Girl
Blue Chair
Tramp the Dirt Down

The Sharpest Thorn
Almost Blue
Deep Dark Truthful Mirror
The Other Side of Summer
Goon Squad
Human Hands
Strict Time
Watch Your Step
Almost Blue
Riot Act

Dear Lord! Did I just list three songs from "Spike"???
I really must be a diehard fan!
