The Borders coupons have really sucked since they rolled out the Borders Rewards program.
I thought that maybe they'd just start requiring you to be a rewards member in order to use coupons, like the 20-25-30% off of one book/CD/DVD, but now most of them are something like "Save 20% off the price of one item with a $20 purchase." Seriously blows.
Might as well just stick with Amazon.

It's related to sales.

You can definately use coupons in conjunction with a PSD. I think perhaps when the new TV seasons start up soon, Borders might starting being a little more generous with their coupons perhaps to encourage tv-on-dvd sales. They have been awful all summer, like 20% off a book if anything, and practically nothing for CD's and DVD's. Just have to wait and see...
And to the OP, it seems like the coupons for the upcoming weekend usually get emailed out on Thursdays.

They can definitely be used in conjunction. Ask whoever tells you otherwise to look in their Rewards info stuff. I have the stuff we were given when the program rolled out (before it was public) and it comes from every manager at work up to and including the GM of my store. There's no doubt about it whatsoever.
Again though, crap coupons are due to crap sales of late. Slow seasons.

Might be quiet until the beginning of September - potentially late August. That's when back to school book shopping and such kicks into gear.
I'm waitin' on one as well.

Well, just doing a rudimentary search through the forum, and I can see that Borders was offering a number of 25% and 30% off of a single item coupons throughout June-July-August of last year.
I suspect that the Borders Rewards program, which dangles a $10 (or 5% back from your total purchases for the entire year) carrot in front of the consumer, might be what is now being used as an incentive for customer loyalty instead of a more generous coupon program.
It's not worth my time and bother when that 5% I get back (providign I spend $200 there over the year!) won't even cover my sales tax. I'll still use my card to pick up the odd magazine or mmpb, but I'll just shop at Amazon or elsewhere where the discounts are better.
Might as well stick with Amazon for books -- with 25%-35% discounts on most books over $10 and free shipping -- and DDD and b&m BB, CC, Wal-Mart, and Target stores for DVDs and CDs.

Ironically, as I've suggested to my GM, it seems to be lacking in the desired effect as it is killing the customer base that followed coupons religiously (ironically because that's why I was in enough that I ended up working there).
But we don't get enough word from corporate on upcoming sales and such. Don't be TOO sure that they're gone for good...

Speak of the devil.
Today our Bounceback system started spitting out:
"Save 25% off 1 DVD when you spend $20 or more" coupons.
I read that there's a control group not printing them off, so this is gonna be YMMV, but it was listed as being an email coupon as well on the 10th. That may also have a control group though, so be warned.
Regardless, it's gonna run 8/10-8/13.

To use or not to use, that is the question.
Edit: Since Borders coupons can't be used in conjunction with sale pricing then I will probably pass (unless anyone has any suggestions).

Does that mean you have to purchase something that's at least $10 in addition to the item that you want 25% off for or does it mean that the item just has to be over $10 to get the discount?
