What really sucks is that MTV2 is following suit. Wasn't the point of MTV2 to have a channel that still plays music?
Now they have a new channel called MTV Hits that plays all music, but in a couple years it'll probably be playing Real World reruns.

At least VH1 Classic sticks to music.

We've recently started seeing a new channel here in the Chicago suburbs on Comcast Digital called Thetube. It's constant music videos from classic to modern pop and rock, with a lot of live versions from concerts. There is no other programming and I've seen very few commercials at all. Everyonce in a while a "WGNTV" station bug will come up in the corner for a few seconds, so I guess it's subsidized by them.
It does lean more towards older stuff, though, so it's not exactly the latest and greatest. (They do show the RHCP's latest drek "Dani California" a lot, so that's one strike against them).
MTV? Isn't that the channel that plays Beavis and Butthead every now and then?

VH1 Classic will be celebrating (MTV- 25 years) On Tues Aug 1 (The original launch date when MTV premiered) starting at Mid ET and running all day- With classic videos, promos, interviews etc when MTV showed videos
Should be a good blast from the past- At least VH1 Classic shows videos still.
Remember Back in the 80's with TBS- Friday night videos and USA's Nightflight?- That's when watching weekend TV was fun.

The only reason I even bother watching mtv is due to Real World, MADE, and other shows. Shows like Fresh meat, RR/RW competitions, are cool. mtv2 is better than mtv and they have Wild Boyz. But that's not saying much.
Frankly, as a metal fan I say FUCK MTV and I've been saying that pretty much for the past 25 years. Hell, at least vh1 has been doing a better job of paying atttention to the Hard Rock/Metal genre in the last few months. :up;

Wow, 25 years - that's crazy... Although I agree about the musicless channel lately... I still find it funny that they created MTV2 for music and now they only play music video's between like midnight and 7am...

I actually watched the first day. It used to be commercial free for a while. There was only videos and VJ's , hot Nina Blackwood and cute Martha Quinn. There was a Maryann or Ginger argument about them at the time. Music vids were very new at the time so it was exciting. Now I have teenagers of my own who tell me MTV has really lost its relevance. Why watch the crappy vids they play when you can download what you want when you want it? The few shows I've checked out seem to have gone downhill also.

I remember way back when (in the 80s), when my school and friends would be buzzing about some hot new video and we all would watch MTV for hours to get a glimpse.
We make jokes about MTV not showing videos anymore, but do they really? Are there any videos being played on MTV?
