Wait, you own Season 4 and are dissing season 6!!?!? I thought this past run was pretty damn decent and will be picking up the DVDs... I hate this half season crap, but at least it's only 1 episode shy of the norm... part 2 on the other hand, which I'm sure HBO will charge the same amount for, is going to be brutal.

Not saying the pricing isn't insane...just trying to explain HBO's pricing logic (or lack of it).

Well, I'll pass since I had HBO for this season. I generally don't watch them twice. Now, if I can weasel FREE HBO for another year, I'll pass on the second part. If not, oh well...DVD rental for me.

I still don't understand why they don't offer rebates for people who already subscribe to HBO. A $20. rebate would be a nice "thank you" for those who pay for their HBO service.

I hate this. I hate it when they split up season sets, like Battle star galactica, and Sex in the city. Sigh.

This was the first season that I actually saw when it was broadcast, so I'll probably wait to see if there's any sort of pts. I and II deal or set down the road. I agree that this wasn't exactly an overly exciting batch of episodes and don't really cry out to be rewatched right off.

The worst episode of the Sopranos is better than almost anything on any other TV show, so I'm looking forward to rewatching all of these again. I don't know, the first half of the season was a lot more subtle than past seasons have been, but I guess I'm not one of those people who isn't happy unless someone gets killed in every episode. I think people who complain that nothing happened in the 12 episodes weren't watching close enough because plenty of things happened. Yes it did sort of feel like a gradual setup for the last 10, but so what? Every single episode was still great, despite having a lower bodycount than previous seasons.

I agree - I wouldn't get hung up on what the seasons are called.
It is strange however because Oz had a similar situation with S4 (split season), yet they released as a complete season and even more amazingly, the price for a 16-episode S4 was the same as the other 8-episode seasons.
I really enjoyed S6. Definitely getting this.

A.) I don't get cable and/or HBO.
B.) I <3 the show and am going to want it. Period.
C.) It never costs me $100; closer to half that price thanks to sales, coupons, or whatever.

Even with the high (true) price for the Sopranos, when you look at the cost/minute, you're easily getting a better deal when you compare it to the average cost a 2-hr-movie DVD.

I have a sneaking suspicion though that with the air date for the last episodes being pushed back two months that this set might also get pushed back a couple of months. I hope not though.

I am hopeful that the second half of S6 will redeem the series.

You know what? Since HBO released a complete Sex & The City and are now releasing a complete Six Feet Under (both with more extras and cool packaging), dollars to doughnuts, they're gonna do the same w/ Sopranos - maybe that's why they're holding back the deleted scenes.
