Six Feet Under - The Complete Series (10/31/2006)

Just saw this posted on tvshowsondvd ...

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=6095

As one of the TV series that I have to collect no matter what I'm definitely looking forward to this.

I suppose it is time to sell off the current sets.

Sounds cool and I'm a huge fan of the show, but I'll probably stick with the original sets. Great price for someone who hasn't already bought the original sets.

Yeah, the packaging will make or break this for me. I'd be happy to 'upgrade' if it means that this will take up less space. Especially since the first season is so much bigger than the others, and doesn't fit well in my storage system.

But, I don't care at all about the obits and CDs, so if the package is huge or awkward, I'll pass.

Six Feet Under is my favourite show, so I probably will end up double-dipping. I spent a lot on the season sets, so I should probably try to sell them off soon, before retailers here of the planned mega-set. I wish I could just stick with my standard sets, but the collector in me will want to get the big set.

I only have the first season and I was thinking about finishing up the series but now I'll just wait, it'll probably be cheaper for me to get this with all 5 than buying 4-5 seperately and it comes with the soundtracks and stuff too so it's a no-brainer.

Truthfully, I would just be happy if they re-released the first season in a similar packaging style as seasons 2-5. I don't think it is worth double dipping the whole series for a package change.

I wonder if we'll be seeing a Sopranos Complete series set Fall 07?

Some nice extras. Since I dont already own the soundtracks, I might double dip. I could probably sell off my 5 season sets for a decent price. Plus i'll get a 30% discount on the box, which brings it down to $200 or so.

I'm thinking about getting this set as I really love this show, but personally I just watched the entire series this last year (in anticpation for the fifth season release) so I don't see myself in for marathon viewings for awhile, so unless I manage to find one hell of a deal (like $120 or so, which I won't) I'll wait for the HD/Blu release (same goes for 'Sex and the City' and 'Friends')

It will probably be the same packaging as the Region 2 release:

Hmmm .... I'm not sure I really need all those extras, but since I've only picked up the first season so far, I may consider this. Or perhaps there will be a price drop on the single-season sets?

I agree.

If the packaging is "to die for" then I might sell my current sets and get the new set. If not - "I'll live" without it. I already have both cds and the obits can easily be read on the website.

The little gripe I had was that I wish they had at least made the season 5 packaging the same size as the first, but since I don't have as many dvds I worked out a setup on the first shelf of my dvd case which is only for SFU sets - and I put the first season right in the middle complete front facing outwards with the others at an angle (two on each side) . It probably wouldn't work for someone with a large collection, but it turned out pretty good.

Hmmm... could be:

It certainly qualifies as "burial-plot-themed".

I'm hoping the packaging is something like that. I really like that packaging.

I just got the Home Media Retailer and it has a picture of the set, it's really small so bear with me. Looking at the box from the Top it looks like a Grave/Burial Plot. It has grass on the top and in the center is one of those flat gravestones. I can't tell if the grass is just box art or if it's actually fake grass. And once you start going down the sides of the box it's like going underneath the grave, there's roots and then just dirt and in the middle is "six feet under" and then some writing i can't read, probably Complete series.

It's pretty cool packaging, not sure if it's enough for me to trade in my sets, but if it is actual "Grass" on the top that might do it.

I agree, the pic is pretty small... but it looks like it may actually be 'fuzzy' on the top. I think we're looking at potential artificial grass:

Thanks for the pic, i doubt my description does the set justice as much as a pic does.

I already own the whole series so unless there are drastic changes being done to the transfers, extras, etc., I'll probably hold on to them.

I only own the first season, so I may pick this up. However I rather wait for an HD DVD version.
