Dazed, Fast Times, Eternal Sunshine and Two Brothers for me. At $3.99, those are rental prices. Awesome.

And odd how Blue Crush was part of CC's recent $4.99 sale, and now $1 less at $3.99 just a couple weeks later. They'll be givin' 'em away by December.

My closest CC is about 45 mins away and only go there about maybe once every 3-4 months when I can combine it with other errands.
Best Buy however is only 20 mins away and closeto other family members we visit frequently. So, in the past I've just bought stuff there and then PM'ed CC for 10% off difference. Hopefully that should work with these $3.99/$5.99 deals. I don't see why not.
Next alternative would be WalMart for PMing CC.

Anyone who doesn't own The Constant Gardener has no excuse at $5.99. Excellent film.
There is always an excuse. There are prudes out there who are offended by excessive profanity, sex/nudity, or violence who will pass on a DVD (even if it were free) because of that. I'm a moderate prude, so I can tolerate a certain amount, but I could name off several popular movies that surpass my tolerance for one reason or another.

I know nothing about The Constant Gardener, so I'm speaking in general. I'm just saying that price alone doesn't justify a purchase for everyone.

Sorry, these are new single disc editions.

They are still ESSENTIAL (especially at this price)

Both Deluxe Elvis boxes (Aloha & 68) have flaws, ommissions, editing problems, that WILL NOT BE CORRECTED/REPRESSED.

These new single discs, fix everything, and have new never before seen bonuses, and easter eggs to somewhat apolozige to many upset Elvis collectors for the F-ups on the Deluxe boxes.

By the way, the flaws alluded to are all minor, and only really apply to serious Elvis video collectors.

The "Special Edition" of "Elvis Thats The Way it Is" at WalFart & SamsCult for 4.88 is also a must blind buy. Buy it first, and watch, and you will want to get the rest of the live Elvis titles.

Good choice on Blue Crush. It's a great sound demo and you can't beat it for $3.99.

I bought most of the $3.99 titles (Blue Crush, The Hurricane, The Bone Collector, etc.) during DDD's 20% off sale for about $4.84 thinking I was getting a good deal. A few others I picked up at Walmart for $4.88, so there isn't much left on the $3.99 list I want. Well, at least the price drop is less than a dollar. It just shows that even when you think the price is as about low as it'll get, it often goes lower. It further reinforces my rule to wait for prices to drop under $5. The trickier part is once DVDs drop under $5, do you jump and buy them or wait for prices to drop under $4? Apparently a lot of people are smarter than I am and knew to wait for $3.99 on these titles.

several threads on

http://www.elvis-collectors.com/forum/

can be searched for for minutia...and believe me, there is alot.

Here is some of the basic info on the mistakes:

68 comeback DexuleBox: Missing @15min of music/dance from main broadcast segment. Missing footage cut due to 1968 network standards (but later broadcast, and on previous home video releases). Single Disc puts this back. Also several outtake missing segments that circulate privately, have been added from original video master sources.

Aloha DeluxeBox: Minor edits use footage from "rehearsal show" during band intros. Single disc fixes edits. Several new post show/other misc footage segments have been added. Included are interviews regarding the show where Elvis is possibly hammered to the gills on something or another, and is barely coherent.

Full track listings of the boxes can also be found via press releases on the Elvis.com (a.k.a. the "Graceland" site).

Basically get the boxes and these single disc sets, and you basically have all edits and raw footage of both events, and considering these have been re-released as many times as the Star Trek episodes, its about time they have tried to do their best to include every second of known related footage, and edit variation/sound mix of all elements from master sources.

The 68 Show has still not lost one bit of its power, and impact, and for something that was originally recorded using "used" NBC Laugh-in video tape as a "cheepie" 1968 Christmas special, that is really saying something.

I may finally have to get Van Helsing.

Question is, come Monday at lunchtime, will CC still have any $3.99 ones left? :(

Just when I told my self I wasn't going to spend any more money on DVDs for a few weeks. Can't pass up Constant Gardener and Eternal Sunshine at those prices.

several threads on

http://www.elvis-collectors.com/forum/

can be searched for for minutia...and believe me, there is alot.

Thanks for the info! Will be picking these up.

I wonder if Honey will be worth it for just $3.99.. I love Jessica Alba, but I heard it was a shitty movie.

Honey is decent.

Sixteen Candles
Breakfast Club
Blues Brothers 25th Anniversary
Carlito's Way: Rise to Power
The Wedding Date

I saw them in the bin tonight. I picked a lot of them up today because if you go to customer service tomorrow, you get back 10% off the difference even on their own sale prices.

E.g. $14.99 Paid, sale price $5.99 = get back $9.00 difference + $0.90.
Net price paid is $5.09 + Tax

Since I live in NYC and live very close to Circuit City and Best Buy I don't have the need for a car and can just walk to one of those stores. Plus, it motivates me to walk outside on a nice day.

Tax in NYC is $8.375% so I saved $0.98 on each movie.

I bought like 10 movies so I saved about $10.

You probably live in a suburb so you need to drive so if that's the case, I wouldn't recommend my strategy unless you're going to be at the store anyway.

Plus, this is the bargains forum...we're in here for a reason: cuz we're CHEAP!!!! This is how I've accumulated over 1750 DVDs.

Also, unlike a lot of members that I see on this board, I do not live pay check to pay check. I carry zero debt...even my college student loans are paid off. I live by myself in a Manhattan apt. I'm simply smart with how I spend my money, including my crazy hobbies, like DVD collecting. Plus I work on average 55-60 hours a week so I'm entitled to do what I want with my money.

Regarding the 2 for $30 special on games at CC, does it give you any sort of extra discount if you pick 2 games that are already less than $30... for instance, would you save anything on 2 $9.99 games?

I bought 12 DVD's today, and thanks to me saving my $200 gift card from Best Buy I made out like a bandit. I just brought the ad, and got everything pricematched. The guy who rang me up had his mouth opened and went, "OH MY GOD... Your the man". Best Buy was charging $14.99 for Two Brothers and I got it for $3.99 thanks to Circut City.

I still have have around $150 left on the card. I will be back to pick up more this week.

What I purchased

1. Honey
2. Bad Boys
3. Van Helsing
4. The Cat in the Hat
5. The Hurricane
6. Wimbledon
7. Two Brothers
8.Scent of a Woman
9. Men in Black
10. Seabiscut
11. Peter Pan

Nice DVD deals at CC this week,

Picked up an armful myself this morning, although the bin was already thin,

and the few titles that CC only seemed to carry in Fullscreen (i.e. Peter Pan, Wimbledon), I just pricematched with the ad at Best Buy down the street

 I was one of the few to watch this film in theaters. It was a touching movie with good performances all around. + I love tigers. For $3.99 this is an incredible price.

Nope. It's either 2 for 30 or whatever it rings up as.

There's a thread at CAG about a pricing glitch at Circcuit City on either PC games or video games where the second game rings up for 1 cent.

You guys should read it.
