The trailer is out for this movie and it looks pretty good. Plus is directed by Christopher Nolan.

I think this is one of two movies that deals with magicians coming out in the fall. I think the other one is called "The Illusionist" with Edward Norton.

Great cast lineup

Would love to see Nolan keep Caine and Bale around for some additional non-Batman projects.

This has been my most anticipated movie since it was announced, and the trailer lived up to that expectation. I had goosebumps.

No love to Jackman, who in my opinion is a lot more talented than Bale.

i'm really distracted by the fact that Bale and Caine are in the same movie again in another Nolan movie. It feels like Batman Begins 2, especially with Caine using the same exact accent as his Alfred character.

especially with Caine using the same exact accent as his Alfred character.

You mean... his regular speaking voice? And I dunno, to me it doesn't exude any similarity to Batman Begins.

Funny,i watched 2 trailers today and both movies(The Prestige and The Illusionist) look quite similar but both very promising.

Looks very good. Nolan is quickly becoming one of my favorite directors.

I also noticed a quick shot of Ricky Jay, one of the most amazing magicians working today. I caught an HBO special of his several years ago and was blown away by his skills.

Whwat will be one of the best films of the year IMO?

*points both thumbs towards the trailer for The Prestige trailer*

This film!

Christopher Nolan continues is evolution into a legendary director.

It looks awful. Horrible cast. Wont be seeing it.

(It actually looks really good and has a great cast but there were too many positive posts on here. I had to mix things up a little.)

Don't forget "Scoop", starring Woody Allen, Hugh Jackman, and Scarlett Johanssen.

This meanwhile, The Prestige has just become a must-see.

What in the world is wrong with me? I didn't know about that one until your post and it looks great to me. I really need to do a better job about these upcoming flicks. :)

Not sure about Bale's accent.

Otherwise, am well up for it. Puts me in mind of that brilliant "Pharaoh's Curse" episode from the 2002 Twilight Zone series.

Nice to see Nolan working with his brother again too.

I'll be in the minority about Scarlett. I think she's an overrated actress. Hope she doesn't spoil the movie like Heather Graham did that Jack the Ripper movie with Johnny Depp. The rest looks awesome though.

I was going to say about Ricky aswell. Love his work and have just finished watching DeadWood S1 on DVD. I just love the way he acts. The ultimate back-up guy. He was brilliant in The Spanish Prisoner.

That's a great poster.

DonnachaOne
08-20-06, 03:21 AM
I like the poster - subtle and nicely composed - though I know some people will expect a different film from it than a drama about Victorian magicians. Looks almost like a Michael Mann film from the poster.

Perhaps Warner Bros, after their painful summer, is trying to get as big an audience as possible by building their campaign on the stars rather than the film.

This is based on the Christopher Priest novel, presumably?

I've had that book for ages, but haven't gotten around to reading it.

Christopher Nolan is one of a few directors that I'll see anything he makes. Memento was my #1 of 2001, Batman Begins was my #2 of 2005 and Insomnia was in my Top 10 of 2002.

Fantastic cast and an awesome trailer.

The new trailer isn't as impressive as the first. It feels like a trailer they would release a few weeks after the movie has been out to get those lazy people who haven't seen it yet into the theaters. Plus, I hate movie trailer voiceovers that just read the fucking interstitial cards. They should stick with the first one.

Just saw the trailer to this a couple of nights ago. It's been a while since both the girlfriend and I instantly wanted to see a movie after the first trailer viewing. We'll both be there opening night.

OK, that new "trailer" is clearly a TV spot. The theatrical trailer is much better, especially hate the voice over guy reading the words (since the sound effect used when they "morph" is so fucking cool and now you can't hear it) but since it's for TV, some people won't be able to read fast enough or will have a TV too small to make it out...still my most anticipated movie right now.

Really want to see this, and whatever the magical "twist" is, I hope it's not telegraphed like The Illusionist. Not that I disliked Illusionist, quite the opposite, but I just felt the ending was something you could see a mile away.

I think that this is going to be very different than the Illusionist. And better in a lot of ways also. To me, the cast looks better and the storyline looks a lot more interesting. I am really excited to see it!
