I'm wondering if you all can combine your wealth of knowledge about films that have characters/settings who/that:
a) Work in a movie theatre
b) Take place in a movie theatre
c) Talk about working in a movie theatre
I have thought of a few examples such as Cinema Paradiso, Cecil B. Demented and Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
How many more can you come up with? I'm working on a research project and I thought it'd be fun to see what you guys can dig up... Google wasn't much help as far as 'lists' go...

That scene is hilarious.
There's also the "Gremlins in the projector room" sequence in Gremlins 2.

Thanks for all the help guys - there are some very good ones in there.
I was kind of hoping to find out about a film like Clerks or Empire Records where the entire story was kind of built around the job. I wonder if such a thing exists beyond the things we've mentioned here...

Dirty Work - "Men in Black... That like to have sex with each other."
I can't think of any theater-centric films like Clerks/Empire Records though.

The movie Ruby on my list takes place entirely at a drive-in theater. About a group of gangsters who kill off their boss in the 1920s and then retire from crime, buying and running a drive-in. Now it's the 1950s and his ghost/spirit has come back for revenge, killing them off one by one.

I never saw the actual film, but I recall the trailer for Last Action Hero and seem to recall that having a scene set in a theatre.
There's also that episode of The Simpsons where Homer forbids Bart from seeing the Itchy and Scratchy Movie.... "Mmmmm... Soylent Green"

There was a TV series in 1987 called The Popcorn Kid about a movie theater, it only lasted 4 episodes. I saw all of them but don't remember much except that it never showed the inside of the theater, just the snack bar which had a ladder that led up to the projection booth (which was also never shown) and the manager's office.

American Werewolf in London
Which brings to mind HARDCORE (1979). George C. Scott hires a detective to find his missing daughter. The detective has Scott meet him at a porn theater. When Scott sees his daughter in the porn movie he gets so upset breaks the back of the seat in front of him with his hands. Never been able to find out if this was an intentional reference in American Werewolf but probably is because isn't the movie playing when Naughton transforms the porn flick See You Next Wednesday.
