Raven-Symone is attached to star in the Walt Disney Pictures remake of "Adventures in Babysitting." At the same time, she has signed an acting and producing deal that includes a guaranteed pay or play on one movie, with an option for a second.
The original "Babysitting," an '80s cult favorite, follows a high school senior who gets stuck baby-sitting a bunch of kids. The dull night is interrupted when she gets a call for help from a friend stuck downtown, leading her and the kids into a night of misadventures. The original movie marked the directorial debut of Chris Columbus.
Lynda Obst, who produced the 1987 original with Debra Hill, is on board to produce the remake. David Stem and David Weiss wrote the script for the new "Babysitting." No director has been named yet.
Kristin Burr is overseeing for Disney.

There is no way that Raven Symone can be mistaken for Miss March.

I'm not sure why, but this ticks me off more than most other remakes. I'm not sure if it's because I have fond memories of the flick, or that I see this as a totally pointless project. Maybe a bit of both?

Yup. I guess I should just put that in my post.
Tis a sad day that studios resort to this... and it probably won't be based in Chicago.

This is the worst news I have heard all week. Why does Adventures in Babysitting even need to be remade? The original is a classic.
Raven Symone is also a very bad casting choice. I cannot stand her. She almost single handedly ruined The Cosby Show by herself. Her Olivia character was absolutely horrible. She is dumber than a box of rocks. According to IMDb, she was a contestant on The Weakest Link. She didn't know what the "PO" in PO Box stands for, and when asked what is half of 1000, she answered 100. :wtf: How can a person be that fucking stupid?

Sorry, but this is one of the most ridiculous comments ever. Someone is a sub-par actress at 4 years of age and you pidgeonhole them for life?

Keshia Knight Pulliam was about the same age when she first started as Rudy, and she was a thousand times better. On JumpTheShark.com (http://www.jumptheshark.com) when Olivia was introduced is the #1 voted jump the shark moment for The Cosby Show, so I am definitely not the only one who hated her.
Looking back though, yes, it probably was more the fault of the script writers that wrote her bad scripts than it was her acting ability. That was my main complaint with her anyway. Her dialogue was just so bad and unnatural for a 4 year old.
Plus, what kind of moron thinks that 100 is half of 1000? That is basic elementary math. I have no respect for someone whose shoe size is higher than his/her IQ.

A part of me is thankful that they didn't cast Lindsay Lohan in the role. Meanwhile, the other part of me is too fuckin' pissed off that this is being remade in the first place.
Should we be expecting a remake of Ferris Bueller's Day Off anytime soon?

Now, I LOVES me some chunky Raven. ;) But I don't want to see her remake this "classic".

I wonder if that dude is still stuck on the side of that building. He was still standing out there after the end credits.
On the subject of the remake, why even bother? They'll never be able to find a better villain than the one in the original. He even made the word "caterer" sound menacing.:)

Paulsen to write 'Babysitting'
Symone, Cyrus to star in Disney film
By DAVE MCNARY
Disney has tapped Tiffany Paulsen to write "Further Adventures in Babysitting," with Raven Symone and Miley Cyrus to star and Lynda Obst producing.
Project's a remake of 1987's "Adventures in Babysitting," which David Simkins penned and Chris Columbus helmed in his feature bow. Obst and the late Debra Hill produced for Disney's Touchstone label.
Elisabeth Shue starred as a suburban high school senior whose dull night of babysitting is interrupted by a call for help from a friend.
Paulsen most recently wrote "Nancy Drew," directed by Andy Fleming and starring Emma Roberts; Warner Bros. is releasing the pic June 15.
She also wrote Fox Searchlight's "Fast Girls," which Billie Woodruff is attached to direct, and recently sold one-hour TV show "Emerald City" to ABC Family with Donald De Line set to produce.
Paulsen is repped by CAA and managed by Nine Yards Entertainment.

That struck me as odd, too. I wonder if they did that so they can sell 2-packs of the DVDs without confusing people. Or maybe lessen the 'remake' stigma? But I think it's just going to confuse the young audience who isn't familiar with the original, and still turn off fans of the original because it's not a true sequel.

It would be funny if Raven were babysitting Elisabeth Shue's kids. AiB was what.. 1987? It's conceivable that Chris got married and had a couple kids in the past 20 years.

Raven was smart to take a pay or play deal. This one, as evidenced by the year old bump, doesn't seem like it will get off the ground.
