Smallville Season 6 Casting Spoiler

Shawn Ashmore's twin brother, Aaron Ashmore is joining the cast of Smallville as....Jimmy Olsen!

From Superman Homepage

Michael Ausiello from TV Guide's "Ask Ausiello" column has revealed that Aaron Ashmore will be joining the cast of "Smallville" for Season 6.
Aaron, who played the part of Try Vandegraff in the TV show "Veronica Mars", is the twin brother of Shawn Ashmore, who appeared in the season 1 episode "Leech".

Aaron will be playing the role of Jimmy Olsen!

"We are very excited to have Aaron joining the show as Jimmy Olsen," Gough told Comics Continuum on Tuesday night. "We had been big fans of his work on Veronica Mars and think he'll be a great addition to the cast.

"Also, I think it will be great that our perennial third wheel Chloe Sullivan will finally get some romantic action with a non krypto-freak!"
Wasn't Shawn initially rumored to be cast as Jimmy Olsen in SR? Kinda weird that his twin would get the gig instead, even if it's on the small screen.

Maybe we'll finally see a Chloe shower scene or something like the Lois bikini from last season.

So apparently Troy Vandegraff won't be on VM next season? Did they ever really wrap things up with him? He was back for that one ep, was acquitted of rape, but was that the end of it? Apparently so...

And who is Jimmy Olsen?

Jimmy is Superman's best pal! He's even got a signal watch that Superman is attuned to hear whenever Jimmy spots trouble or is in trouble. But that's in the comics.

Considering Chloe works at the Planet, it would seem natural to have Jimmy around.

Hope they start moving closer to having Clark and Lois getting insterested in being reporters.

Or just getting interested in each other. That would hopefully tone down the whole Lana angle and the annoying storylines that come from that.

Wow, I knew Iceman wasn't on Veronica Mars. My friend had told me it was the Iceman from X-Men, but for some reason I was sure that it wasn't. I began to see what he saw, but still I felt it wasn't him. Then I looked up X-Men and saw a picture of his brother (didn't know at the time that it was his brother) and admitted that it was Iceman. I was right afterall. How strange is that?

I always thought Jimmy Olsen was much younger than everyone else. So will he be playing the part of a 12 year old?

Nah, he'll be playing the guy that popped Chloe's cherry.

Didn't a number of people initially feel that Veronica Mars looked very much like Chloe...

Well, IIRC, Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) tried out for the role of Chloe way back when.

Why don't they just make Clark Superman and just move him to Metropolis already? He's already met everyone from the Daily Planet now.

I thought either him or his Brother had already been in an episode as a freak of the week. Anyone else think so?

From the article that the original poster posted:

is the twin brother of Shawn Ashmore, who appeared in the season 1 episode "Leech".

Meh.

I wasn't thrilled when they brought in Lois, but changed my opinion when I saw Erica Durance's assets.

I don't see the same thing happening here.

Maybe not, but with him giving Chloe a love life maybe we will get to see a bit of Allison.

Having Jimmy Olsen in Smallville is just as stupid as having Lois Lane in Smallville. Please end this show already.
