He he he, add a "protection plan" to your DVDs for an additional $3.49... Some tempting ancient history documentaries there, pity I already bought Pompeii: The Last Day at ddd's BBC sale a few months back.

I saw "protection plan" and "Pompeii" and thought for $3.49 they'd replace your DVDs if they're involved in a volcanic eruption .

Cheers.

Every time I see one of these Discovery Channel sales, I check to see if they have Mythbusters at a non-insane price, and every time I'm disappointed.

Same here. Was hoping it would be less than $50 for the first and $99 for the second season. Also waiting for Dirty Jobs to go on sale.

You can get all 8 discs of the first season of Dirty Jobs for $39.92. That's 16 50-minute episodes for $40 (not including tax and shipping). Not a great deal, but not a terrible either,

Aren't most of these coupons worthless? I mean last time I checked they only let you use one coupon at a time and the standard one is free shipping over $50 that is automatically applied. When putting some sets in my cart and the total was over $75 the $10 off didn't even cover the shipping. So the only code worth using might be $5 off $25 since the free shipping pretty much outweighs the others.
Thanks to both of you for bringing them up though.

To answer the question, what's the point of the coupon codes when free shipping over $50 is better?

Well, i found that i'm kind of foreced to get over $50 (missing freaking three cents) and i hate to purchase something that i really don't want in the first place.

So, i decided to give the $5 off $25 code and the saving is not too shabby... My order is around $40 and with $5 off, i'm getting free shipping! Oh, you have to choose DVD mailing method though. So, with a wide selection of coupon codes, you don't have to buy up to $50!

Yeah, people thinking that the coupons are stackable... No, they are NOT. If they're, the deal would be totally awesome!

Better to wait for a release in conjuntion with SONY. Buying Discovery Channel's tv shows directly from them in insane.

Example:

American Chopper Season 3: $99.95 from Discoverychannel.com

Same title is $17.99 at Amazon.com (released/distributed in partnership with SONY).

They should also release shows like Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters, and Monster House! Currently they partnet with SONY on Monster Garage and American Chopper.

How can they rationalize these prices for season sets, let alone the prices for the invididual episode releases when you can go to any retail store and get a season set for 500% less than if you got it directly from the Discovery Channel?

They do seem to offer some of the newer sets released by SONY like season 2 of American Chopper for $8 which is 1/2 of what its charged elsewhere, but they are still selling their original boxset of season 1 for $75.

Prices are good for the specials and doc's, its just the actual shows that are drastically overpriced.

Someday they might have a sale on mythbusters and the deadliest catch...maybe...
