Feast of Prey over - need new authors!
So i've been devouring various mystery author's of late and am beginning to run out of those that I know of....My favorite's are Sandford's Prey series, Cornwell, Kathy Reichs....and right now i'm working through James Lee Burke's Robicheaux novels (And loved the Billy Bob Holland books too).
Basically, the more sick and twisted the killers and complicated the main characters, the better. The Forensic focus of Reichs and Cornwell works for me too...but that's getting a bit played out and Cornwell definately lost her edge a while ago. I prefer established series I can work through, because i'll read 2 or 3 a week. I really enjoyed Blood Memory by Greg Iles recently, as another example.
It appears that Harry Bosch is a likely next step....does that sound about right? How about J.A. Jance? Part of what I like about Lucas Davenport is the setting too, being a Michigander, any series set in the North Country adds something to it for me (Steve Hamilton and Phil Heywood can't write enough unfortunately). What's Harlan Coben like? Lee Child's Jack Reacher books ????
Thanks in advance!

Robert Crais' Elvis Cole books are pretty good. You also may want to give T. Jefferson Parker a shot. He had a series with a female detective (Merci Rayborn) that was very character-driven and very good.

Check out...
Lee Child (I'm a big fan of the Reacher books)
Dennis Lehane
George Pelecanos
Michael Connelly is okay, but I got really tired of his endings. The antagonist would always turn out to the most unlikely "bad guy" possible.

Believe it or not, I did search and saw those threads before posting....but I was simply looking for recommendations of authors/characters with a bit more of a harder edge to them...those discussions don't really go into detail on that aspect of it. Sex, violence, dysfunction...that's what i'm after The grittier the better!

Check out the John Rain series by Barry Eisler. A half-Japanese, half-American assassin who specializes in the "natural causes" hit.
