actually, I saw a special on MTV and it's both. It's a special wool made in France and it's Dark on the outside and gets lighter red as you go under the cape. They wanted it that way so yo can see both shades as it blew in the wind

Holy shit I just heard something awesome.

Superman can fly, and he is completely invulnerable to everything except for kryptonite. Bullets and bombs and being run over by semi-trucks don't faze him, but kryptonite kills him.
