but I need some dvds to make my dvd collection more unique, if you look at it there are some titles not everyone else has but I need some decent cult/wierd movies that are worth buying.

Sorry if it seems like i'm 'threadcrapping'...but surely your collection is unique to yourself regardless of what titles you have in it?...i'd say collect titles where the subject matter is going to be of interest to you or if there is a 'link' to other titles in your collection (ie..a fave director or continuation of a series you've started) as opposed to trying to amass a collection with titles you think are exclusive to yourself and which you'll probably never watch....just my 2 cents worth...or rather 1 pence worth

I was just thinking about Henry Fool the other day. I had forgotten the title of that movie. I recall the one humorous "puke" moment. I didn't think the film was all that great though.

If someone recommends something, I'll still do research to see if I will like it or not.

I like strange movies though. Man Bites Dog is awesome. David Lynch, Takashi Miike, Seijun Suzuki are cool.

Now John Waters, his early movies made me sick but Cecil B. DeMented is so ridiculous, it's hilarious.

There's no such thing as "more unique." SOmething is either unique or it isn't. There are no degrees of being "unique."

So, if nobody else has exactly the same set of DVDs that you have in your collection, then it is already "unique."

Not sure your motivation. But if you want to get a crazy mad, relatively unknown movie, you really need to pick up "Forbidden Zone"!

I'd say to grab some Andy Warhol but, except for some bootleg copies, none are available. But keep your eyes peeled for '****', 'Empire' and 'Chelsea Girls.' Surely they'll show up some day. ('Flesh', 'Heat', 'Trash', 'Flesh For Frankenstein' and 'Blood or Dracula' are on DVD, though. And you may still be ale to find an old laserdisc of 'Bad.')

KING KONG (1933) - for some reason, many film buffs have missed out on this classic.

FORBIDDEN PLANET - groundbreaking sci-fi

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA - Kurt Russell may be a household name, but this is generally a love it or hate it. If you're a child of the 80s like me, it's a required purchase.

DONNIE DARKO - is it sci-fi? horror? who knows, but it sure is quirky

RAN - Akira Kurusawa's legendary bloody samurai flick

AMERICAN SPLENDOR - pseudo autobiography is almost black comedy

DEMENTIA 13 (1963) - Francis Ford Coppola dabbles in horror. TWISTED!
