"Pretty Poison" and "The Other" coming 09/05/06

Two of the movies high on my want list are being released by Fox on September 5: Pretty Poison (1968) with Anthony Perkins and Tuesday Weld which was never even released on VHS or laserdisc, at least in the U.S. to my knowledge; and The Other (1972), the super creepy twins movie based on the Thomas Tryon novel.

I had not known that both films had already been released in R2 so now I'll just wait for the U.S. release.

I don't know details yet but certainly hope they are in OAR. Looks like MSRP will be $14.98 for both.

Pardon this if it is a repost but I couldn't find a thread on these.

PRETTY POISON

Those who haven't seen this are in for a treat - terrific movie! (I also held off on the R2 - glad I waited a bit.)

Since I read the book first I already knew it going in but I'm pretty sure I would have figured it out early as it was much easier to conceal that fact in the book than in the film.

Did you see it when you were older/recently or a while ago? I saw it in the early 70's on late night TV around 12-14 yrs old. Back then I had no clue how the film was going to turn out. I'm thankful to have been able to see cult films back in a more innocent/naive time. Films that had me going "whoa!" have modern audiences simply yawning.

I was 18 when I first saw it, plus I'm a writer (or I was, at the time) so it's the kind of thing I look for. Most of my friends who've seen the movie, didn't see it coming at all.

It's a great film...hardly any blood or violence, but it's creepy as hell, and has some VERY disturbing moments. They just don't make horror films like this anymore. Plus, it's got John Ritter (one of his first film roles) AND Uta Hagen!!

Did any of the extras that are on the Region 2 PRETTY POISON make it to this version? The listing on Amazon doesn't mention anything.

Extras on Pretty Poison R2, according to DVDTimes:

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=58010

In addition to the film itself, Second Sight are also offering Pretty Poison with a handful of noteworthy extras. The major piece is the commentary recorded by Black alongside film historian Robert Fischer ...

... Black and Fischer are also present to discuss a deleted scene. Though only present in script form ...

... Rounding of the extras package, we also have the opportunity to peruse a gallery of lobby cards as well as the original pressbook, which also contains a number of poster designs.
Extras on Pretty Poison R1, according to DVDBeaver:
