Hot damn!! Tom Waits to tour. Dates announced next week.

According to the Eyeball Kid website, dates for an August Waits tour in Canada/USA will be announced next week. I hope they come somewhere within a days drive of me.

Wow! I got into him about five years ago (when I was 17) and have never looked back. Unfortunately, I have never been anywhere near his more recent venues.

Hope that changes this time around.

Google the Eyeball Kid website. It's on the front page. Doesn't say much, just that there is an announcement next week.

My friend's extremely into Tom Waits. Every time I went to his house that'd be all he listened to. One of the things I like about Tom though was his very low, scraggly voice. It'd always crack me up. What's your favorite song by him?

Thank you SO much for posting this, you made my day! Tom Waits is my hero, I really hope he comes to Nevada, Utah or Southern California, it'd break my heart if he toured and I couldn't see him.

Although it's not his best, IMO, "Innocent When You Dream" always gets to me.

from pitchforkmedia:

Tom Waits will leave his lair for a rare tour this August, hitting Southern and Midwestern cities he hasn't played in decades (if at all).

"We need to go to Tennessee to pick up some fireworks, and someone owes me money in Kentucky," Waits said in a press release.

Yeah, Tom Waits is pretty much the coolest man alive.

Come on up to the house:

08-01 Atlanta, GA - Tabernacle
08-02 Asheville, NC - Thomas Wolfe Auditorium
08-04 Memphis, TN - Orpheum Theatre
08-05 Nashville, TN - Ryman Auditorium
08-07 Louisville, KY - Palace Theatre
08-09 Chicago, IL - Auditorium Theatre
08-11 Detroit, MI - Opera House
08-13 Akron, OH - Akron Civic

A Waits rarities box set, entitled Orphans, is rumored to be in the works for Anti-, but nothing has been confirmed.

I'm so happy he is playing Michigan. Any idea when these go on sale? Ticketmaster has nothing scheduled.

Now i can't wait to hear pricing and whether i have to deal with the horror that is Ticketmaster. I'll most likely catch the last show in Akron. I'm very interested in that rumored box set though.

Any idea how much tickets are going to run? I hope he isn't going to be one of those 200$ tickets like Tom Petty was when last i looked him up.

There is information for a couple of the shows on Ticketmaster. Tickets for Atlanta are $60 and $65 plus TM charges. Tickets for Detroit are $72 plus TM charges. Tickets will be sold by internet and phone only and will not be mailed. You must pick your ticket up as you enter the venue. Onsale date for Atlanta is 7/8. Onsale for Detroit is 7/14.

I'm hoping to get in for Nashville. The Ryman is a great venue, and it's close to home. The Palace in Louisville is also very nice, and less than two hours from home as well.
