Kyle XY - series thread
Its an ABC Family show and I was extremely skeptical, but desided to give it a shot, and I am now officially addicted to yet another television show... Anyone else give it a try?

Very similar to John Doe. In fact the opening was almost exactly the same (Guy wakes up naked, lying curled in the fetal position in the middle of the woods, with no memory of who he is or how he got there). That being said I enjoyed the pilot. Hopefully they do a better job with this premise than John Doe did.

Very John Doe, but found it interesting enough to watch again next week.

Never saw John Doe, but loved this! I was skeptical too about it being on ABC Family, but I thought it was very well done. Hopefully it won't just devolve into some kind of 90210 meets X-files....

You may want to check out a show called Nowhere Man . Similar premise to John Doe, but a far superior show in every aspect.

ABC Family's original scripted drama KYLE XY heated-up ratings on ABC Family with its premiere Monday, June 26, (8:00 PM 9:00 PM), delivering a 2.1 HH rating and over 2.6 million total viewers, the highest for any original series telecast in the history of the channel. The series ranked No. 2 in the time period among basic cable in HH (2.1 rating), total viewers (2, 643), Adults 18-34 (0.9) and Adults 18-49 (1.1).
"Nothing is more rewarding than having a show you really believe in come out of the gate strong," said Paul Lee, president, ABC Family." It's such a great show and our marketing campaign seems to have really resonated with the audience. We're being parodied on YouTube, we're being recommended on iTunes, and we're being watched on cable. We're absolutely thrilled."
The series outperformed year-ago time period deliveries by 50% in HH (2.1 vs. 1.4), 52% in total viewers (2,643 vs. 1,735), 50% with Adults 18-34 (0.9 vs. 0.6) and 83% with Adults 18-49 (1.1 vs. 0.6).
Produced by Touchstone Television, the new ABC Family original series about a mysterious boy with no past and no belly button, KYLE XY airs Mondays (8:00 - 9:00 PM ET/PT). In addition, beginning June 30th the first four episodes will be repurposed on ABC, Fridays (9:00 - 10:00 PM ET/PT). KYLE XY is currently available for download on iTunes and beginning early July on the ABC Family broadband player.

And for about the first 3 minutes, the ABC version was in HD. Then (just about the time I was going to post this!) it popped back into SD.
If it's supposed to be in HD during it's ABC run, that's certainly where I'll be watching it.
Assuming that three minutes wasn't some strange fluke that is.

Aside from that extremely corny ending, I liked it.
I like the voiceovers, makes it a bit more interesting.
Not sure what's going on with the guy following him.
Hopefully it's given a chance to play out.

If Kyle shows his powers by killing and devouring the kid brother, I'll keep watching

I thought the same thing - John Doe for the teeny bopper set (in a good way ). I really liked it - very engaging and I even liked the family members. The peripheral characters can get a bit annoying in some shows, but not with this one, at least, not yet.
When I first saw John Doe it reminded me of the Pretender...again, in a good way...so here's hoping this show lasts.
