Alfred Hitchcock Presents - Safe to Buy?
I remember reading about a lot of problems people had been having with the first Alfred Hitchcock Presents set. Is it safe to assume that those problems have been resolved and that it's now safe to buy the set, or is it still something to steer clear of? I'm a big Hitchcock fan and I'm trying to collect all of his stuff on DVD (or as much of his stuff as is available on Region 1.)

I don't recall having any problems w/ mine when I first watched it... maybe I should go back and recheck it to make sure it's still ok. Personally I would say if you want it go for it, just check it out early instead of letting it sit around for awhile.

I don't think the issues have been taken care of, this is Universal you're talking about. The discs are still the same dvd-18's that universal does a crappy job at making, all their dvd-18's seem to have the same issues.
If you want more info, you could try reviving one of the old threads and ask about it.
Or like nemein suggested, buy it and watch it all asap, so you'll still have a chance to return it if your player has issues with it.
I have held off on getting this myself because I know my old player would probably have problems with it, and I hate flippers. My new player though would probably play this okay, but I still am a little hesitant because of the flippers.

The only way to find out is buy it and check them out yourself. I had a bad disc in the first set I got, but replaced it and *knocks on wood* I think everything's fine now.

I have this set and parts of some of the episodes are unwatchable on my older (1999) Pioneer DVD player, but they play perfectly (so far) on my newer (2004) Pioneer progressive scan DVD player.
