I had no idea there was a complete third season out until the DDD sale. After doing some research, this is the only complete season set out for this series. Why in the world did they start with the third season? My question is if anyone has heard anything else about releasing the entire series in sets, or will we only get the themed collections that have been out. I just think it strange they started with the third season.

There previous releases of X-Men:Evolution are not themed, they actually are in order. I assume they released "Mutants Rising" first as a test to see if people would actually buy the series. The volumes are as follows:

"Unxpected Changes" - Season 1, Vol 1 - Ep. 1-3
"Xplosive Days" - Season 1, Vol 2 - Ep. 4-6
"X Marks The Spot" - Season 1, Vol 3 - Ep. 7-9
"Xposing the Truth" - Season 1, Vol 4 - Ep. 10-13

"Mutants Rising" - Season 2, Vol 1 - Ep. 1-4 (Not marked as such...)
"Powers Revealed" - Season 2, Vol 2 - Ep. 5-8
"Enemies Unveiled" - Season 2, Vol 3 - Ep. 9-12
"Mystique's Revenge" - Season 2, Vol 4 - Ep. 13-16

X-Men: Evolution - Season 3 (13 Episodes Total)

X-Men: Evolution - Season 4 (9 Episodes Total) -- Not yet released, but likely due around the time X-Men III is released to DVD.

You should be able to fine the first eight episodes relatively cheap, and possibly bundled as Seasons 1 & 2, respectively.

Definitely not as good as the classic Fox Xmen show, but it still is pretty good. Some of the characters feel off, but I like the overall cast. I find Cyclops (AKA Scott summers) annoying in this one and the animation isn't the best, but like I said it was still pretty good.

hi. started with s3 a while back.

just a heads up that I saw the dvds for s1 and s2 at walmart for 3.88 each. i got all four of s2. might go back and look for the s1 dvds another time.

I felt the same way when we first started watching the new one, until I caught an episode of the older one in syndication. The old one just does not hold up well IMHO. My wife and I both enjoy the new series more.

After buying the 90s X-men animation UK PAL DVDs recently (just season 1 and beginning of Season 2 on DVD), this series is even better than I remember. Out of all the cartoons that I loved as a kid (Transformers G1, G.I.Joe, MASK, X-Men 90s), I think this X-Men series actually holds up the best. I totally forgot that each episode leads into the next. It's a much better cartoon watching one after the other, instead of waiting once a week. The series is like one long awesome soap opera with excellent continuity. It's amazing how continuity helps a cartoon series.

So, now I'm thinking about buying the X-Men Evolution dvds. I never watched the show though. Any news on Season 4?

The reason they released Season 3 in a complete set is that WB wanted to cash in on X3.

Is there a reason that Warner Brothers cancelled the DVD release of Season 4 of X-Men Evolution? Is there any news that this will get released? And is it likely or unlikely to get released?

One would think that's the smartest way to sell a dvd, but look:

-X-men animated 90s show: no release during the X-men movies (only available on UK PAL dvd)

-Silver Surfer animated 90s show: no release during FF4 sequel movie

-Fantastic Four animated 70s show: no release during FF4 movies

-Spiderman animated 90s shows: no release during Spiderman movies

-Transformers G1 complete seasons: out-of-print and not re-released during Transformers movie

-G.I. Joe complete seasons: out-of-print and no news of re-releasing old ones and more seasons during this year's G.I. Joe movie

-Iron Man animated 90s show: no release during the Iron Man movie (only available on UK PAL dvd)

-Hulk 80s and 90s animated shows: no release during the two Hulk films (only available on UK PAL dvd)


These aren't even obscure titles out of the hundreds of cartoons that were released at the time. Why aren't they getting released in the States?

Disney did release one X-Men DVD (I think around the time of X2) and several 90s Spider-Man discs around the first two movies.

It's very sad what Disney has done.....or rather has not done with the animated Marvel shows. The last few seasons of Home Improvement which were released by Disney cost $20 and less depending on where you bought them from. Each season had about 25 or 26 episodes. They could easily release all of Spider-Man 94 and Spider-Man Unlimited spread across three volumes if they did it that way. All of these shows could be released in nice sets, be it by volume or season, instead of the shitty random three episode compilations. Which is why I don't buy them. The minute they roll out something better like I've listed I'll be counting the days to release.

And what a shame it is that Warner Brothers quit on X-Men Evolution when only 9 more episodes are needed. All it would take is one disc. A double sided one is their worst case scenario.

What a surprise wandering into this thread only to discover I made it over 2 years ago. SOO much has happened since then.

Anyways. I'm not really confident that X-Men will be completed. I really wish they would just release these cartoons. Seriously what is the hold up? They can't cost that much to produce.

Some other cartoons that I'm waiting for a release/rerelease:

Must haves:
Jackie Chan Adventures - really good funny show
X-Men and Spiderman 90's
Exo Squad (check out the first season on hulu.com VERY underappreciated cartoon)
MiB - certainly worlds better then the 2nd movie.
Transformers and GI Joe - although I have my doubts on how well these hold up

Would pick up on the cheap:
Tarzan/Aladdin/Buzz Lightyear - these were pretty decent

It's amazing how little attention these compilations get. I mean, come on - who really buys sets like Wil & Grace and Gilmore Girls when you got Transformers, X-Men, GI Joe, etc.?

Is it possible that the tv syndication factor is preventing DVD releases? If all these beloved cartoons are completely released on DVD, does anyone think that the tv studios will lose an audience, therefore, losing money? Thus causing beloved animated tv shows from getting released on DVD?

Disney has released 3 X-Men dvds. 2 when the first movie came out (Phoenix Saga and Savage Land) and a wolverine-theme DVD when X-2 came out.

^I don't think Disney released those first two. Those were the same ones released on VHS eariler. Plus I don't think Disney had the rights yet.

Yea, there were actually 3 released and they were by Universal, each with 5 episodes. Just the Wolverine disc was by Disney.
