Gimme the beat boys to sooth your soul....

I just wanna get lost in your rock and roll.... and dance away...

I'm a little ashamed I know this, but the song is called Drift Away and I think it was originally recorded by Dobie Gray. It was a one hit wonder for him in the '70s. It's been covered by several people since including Michael "effin'" Bolton. I knew the name of the song, but got the rest of this info from www.allmusic.com. HTH.

Give me the beat boys and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll
and drift away

Originally done by Dobie Gray, it was most recently covered by Uncle Kracker who featured Gray on the song.

^which is actually not that bad of a cover. Probably due to the fact that Gray is on the song.

I like the cover done by Ringo Starr, Alanis Morisette, and Tom Petty. It has Steven Tyler on the drums as well. Good song.

Up until this very moment, I thought the lyrics were "Give me the Beach Boys and free my soul"
