With the great summer movie season upon us, it seems we are getting more questions about these - and a lot of nice deals that make a DVD purchase really cheap (if you deduct a ticket price).

I will volunteer to keep this updated every few days if folks want to post the info here.

For all of these, assume that quantities are limited and may be mixed in with other copies of the title that don't have the free ticket.

These are what I am aware of right now:

I was in Best Buy yesterday buying the Crimson Tide: SE that came with the POTC2 ticket. I'm pretty sure in their big display I saw The Rock single disc including the ticket.

There is a ticket to The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift inside The Fast and the Furious Franchise Collection. This is not exclusive to any particular retailer.

There is also a ticket inside the newly released Garfield: The Movie Purrrfect Collector's Edition. It includes a free kids movie ticket to see the upcoming sequel. This is also not exclusive to any particular retailer.

Thanks. This is an excellent idea for a thread. Lately I've been buying quite a few movies for the ticket. I was going to mention that there is a free ticket to Pirates of the Carribean 2 in the DVD, but I see that it was already mentioned. All I can recommend is to look in the weekly ads for when CC or BB have it for $9.99 and buy it then. I PMed mine last week from CC at BB.

FYI, while that POTC 2 coupon is a BB exclusive, the Crimson Tide and Enemy Of The State DVDs are on sale at Target this week for $10. My suggestion? Buy them at BB, pick up the free movie ticket, then come back and price match at Target later in the week! :)

Yeah, I suppose, but if the ticket is seperate, not on-pack, they might not be inclined to price match you AND give the free ticket at the same time. YMMV, as always.

How do you price match an unadvertised sale?

One of 2 ways: Give them the phone no. to the Target store or while at Target print out a price receipt under the price scanner.

Excellent thread, thanks.

Is it just me, or is offering a free ticket to Fast & Furious 3 on something called "The Fast and the Furious Franchise Collection" kind of a kick in the nuts? How about instead they offer a free Tokyo Drift DVD when it comes out in 4 months?

Manzana

My BBY had the Crimson Tide, Con Air, and Enemy of the State with the movie tickets near the TVs far away from electronics, and in the DVD section they only had the ones without the tickets. I forgot TGT had them for $10 because they weren't in the ad and I went to BBY first, but I have a plan to get that price even though it'll be a little bit of leg work.

I'm glad this thread was started and I hope it can be kept up-to-date. I do have a BIG request, though. If the information is known, I'd really appreciate it if each deal would list what type of ticket it is (www.hollywoodmoviemoney.com, www.hollywoodmoviecash.com, etc.) and the promo code.

Why? Because I have this thing about Harkins vs. AMC Theaters in my area. If I can look up the promo I can find out if AMC will take it. If AMC won't take it, then I usually don't bother.

Just an update about the POTC tickets in the new Buana Vista DVD's : There on-pack, shrink wrapped to the slipcover. Most copies did not come this way and none of the copies in the DVD section did -- some were present in the stand-alone by checkout though. I bought both EOTS and Crimson Tide for $14.99 each. Then I went to the CS counter and told the rep that these DVDs were $10 at Target (sneaky alert : I handed her the receipt, not the DVDs so that she would see the purchase, not the bonus). She went online at Target.com and somehow confirmed both prices. Then she gave me nearly $12 back. Great deal -- two DVDs and two movie tickets for $19. Too bad it's only $7 per certificate; I'll still have to kick in a fiver for us to see the flick at night.

How was she able to confirm it? Target's website doesn't have the $10 sales prices.

I bought them at Target first and brought in my Target receipt. They pricematched off of that. Then I returned them at Target. I know it's extra leg-work, but I go to Target all the time anyway. So it wasn't a big deal for me...

Dunno. I saw her go online, scroll through several pages of items and then come back and PM it. I had assumed she would just make a phone call, but that's not what happened.

The Targets around here have them on the bottom shelf of the $10 DVD display up front by the registers, not back by the DVD's. You might want to look again...

Does anyone have any details on the free movie ticket in The Fast and the Furious Franchise Collection? What I'd like to know is what company (web site) is putting it out (usually hollywoodmoviemoney.com), what the promo code is, and if the ticket specifically lists AMC and/or Harkins Theaters. Thanks.

The free ticket for Tokyo Drift is issued by Hollywood Movie Money but does not have any listings of participating theaters on the back of the draft or the attached paper. It merely says to log on to www.hollywoodmoviemoney.com to find a participating theater near you.

I bought Glory Road at Target last weekend, and I just got around to opening it. BIG HEAD'S UP::: Even though the sticker on the DVD says it is a free ticket to see Cars valid up to $7, the ticket says it is good for the admission of one child only! This really irritated me, cause half the reason I bought the movie was for the free Cars ticket and no where on the packaging did it note it was for a kid only. URG!!!

Unless your theater is really sticklers you should be able to use it. Ours has matinees for children & seniors for $6 & $6.50 for everybody else. They just give me a $6 ticket (senior or kid) & they let me in with it. Now at night when the difference in prices is a lot more it might not work but it's never failed at a matinee.

Anyone see any superman tickets around? I was at walmart yesterday and they had a big display of Smallville, Lois and Clark, the original movies, and the Adventures of Superman.

One copy of the Adventures of Superman had a sticker that said free ticket inside. It just seemed really weird that only one copy had the sticker.

If the IMAX theater accepts the coupon or is participating in the promotion, then YES you could use to see Superman Returns in IMAX proportions.

I'm pretty disappointed.

I haven't recieved my Amazon order yet, but I proactively contacted their support email about this issue... they did say that they would accept a return if I didn't get the free movie ticket that is clearly advertised on their site. Of course, they also mentioned that it would be packaged separately by their fulfillment department, which seems kind of odd...

I ordered Justice League S2 and Superman TAS Vol. 3 from Amazon and got both today. JL2 had the ticket (and a sticker on the outside indicating so) and Superman V3 did not have a sticker saying there was a ticket inside. I don't want to open it to see if I know there will not be a ticket in there and I will have to return it for one WITH a ticket. (I notice they no longer say anything about a free movie ticket inside on either product now on their site.)

06-23-06, 09:47 AM
Well, this situation is really irritating. I also ordered the Superman Animated V3 from Amazon, since their site was advertising that it would be included. Of course, I received and opened it to find NO TICKET.

I called customer service and they said it was a studio problem (WHV) and gave me a number (800-364-6928). I called that number, and they had no idea what I was talking about and gave me another number. I called that number (866-488-4640), and they also had no idea what I was talking about. They said it should be fixed by Amazon, but gave me one last WHV number to try (818-954-6000). Of course, that is a toll number, but I called anyhow and got a message for Warner Studios security??

I gave up and e-mailed Amazon to try and get a more realistic response. Here was what I got:

"Upon reviewing this situation, I found that the $10.50 Movie Money
pass valued up to $10.50 for admission to see Superman Returns is a
manufacturer in-box promotion.

Unfortunately, we are unable to obtain or post the offers for in-box offers from manufacturers. Rest assured that the necessary
offer should be included in the product packaging when it arrives.

If the item arrives without the offer, please contact the manufacturer to obtain the necessary coupon.

We're not able to give you any contact information for that
particular studio. However, I would recommend searching for this
information using A9.com or one of the online Web search engines;
some search engines have long lists of studio web sites.

I hope that this information is helpful. Thanks for shopping at
Amazon.com."

Of course, that is also an unacceptable response. I like how they want to dump their adverstising problems on me. Worse to worse, I will fight the charges with my credit card, but I was hoping for better response with how much business I give that company............

However, I would recommend searching for this
information using A9.com or one of the online Web search engines;
some search engines have long lists of studio web sites.

I hope that this information is helpful. Thanks for shopping at
Amazon.com."

Of course, that is also an unacceptable response. I like how they want to dump their adverstising problems on me. Worse to worse, I will fight the charges with my credit card, but I was hoping for better response with how much business I give that company............]

Hmm... the bottom line is that they advertised this on their site, and that the terms were clearly stated... it did not mention it being limited in any way. Couple this with the fact that amazon has already credited a few members 10.50 for their troubles, and I'd argue some more.

I know I sent out a pre-emptive email about this the day I ordered it, and they mentioned that if it doesn't have the ticket inside, I could return it for a full refund.

Well, on another note, I noticed the bb.com has Crimson Tide and Enemy State unrated editions for $12.74, so while I was in the store, I had them price match the web site (it is $14.99 in store) to copies with movie tickets. Nice deal.

I update the promo codes on Superman and Pirates.

If anyone has more info on the free movie ticket for Open Season that comes with $7.49 DVDs like Hook at Circuit City this week, please post it.

The info I would like to know is the dates the ticket is valid, what company issues it (HollywoodMovieMoney/Cash, etc.), and if possible whether AMC Theaters are listed as included. (I only have AMC and Harkins in my area.)

Thanks.

Not sure about the specifics you're asking about. however, worth mentioning I saw this offer at Safeway yesterday too. So it might be in all retailers.

I also saw it at Toys RUS today. So definitely not specific to CC.
