Space Race - Will You Be Watching?
I grew up in the 60's and was only 7 when Apollo 11 landed on the moon, so when I saw the broadcast promos for next week's Space Race on the National Geographic Channel, the show became a must-see for me. And if I wasn't already hooked, the 2 minute promo that was downloaded to my DirecTivo has pushed me over the edge. I'll be watching... will you?

When I first heard this was coming, I didn't think I was going to watch. I guess I was thinking I've seen it all in From the Earth to the Moon and in The Right Stuff and in the various shows on the History channel, discovery channel, etc.
However, after viewing the preview video, the tivo is set. Looks great. Thanks for the post.

I caught it this weekend and was really surprised by it. Usually these types of shows (re-enactments mixed with real footage) are dry and somewhat dull or super cheesy, but this one was really well put together, with good actors and an interesting linear story that told both sides (as opposed to From the Earth to the Moon, which just showed the American side). I thought the second half was a bit rushed; they could have used another 1/2hr to go through the Mercury and Apollo missions in a bit more detail.

I thought it was a great show. I thought I was only going to watch 5 min or so but then next thing I knew two hours had gone by.
Damn. The USSR sure did bury a lot of scientists back in those days. With the giant explosions and all.
