Set to be released on July 5th in France (the listing also indicates English subs, yet I am unsure this is correct since MAIS do not have them in their bulletin).
The film comes in two versions- limited coffret and a standard single DVD.

I get the home-industry bulletin (France-Benelux) from another reviewer and this one has a * next to it which is meant to indicate English subtitles. The official press release however does not have them (which means very little as Gabrielle also did not have English subs yet the bulletin did and the DVD came out as English-friendly).

I am not a fan of Besson's work, unlike his fellow countryman Bresson, due to the fact that with a few exceptions he has grown out to be one of the most predictable French directors, both in terms of style and execution (I truly like his Le Grand Blue). Certainly until I see this film I can not comment on it but the reviews have been mixed indeed. Here's a positive German review:

One thing is certain: Jamel Debbouze is a likeable character and if you happen to enjoy his previous work you should be able to swallow this film as well (or so most German critics seem to believe).

it's like "Brice de Nice" actually. I prefer "Subway", "Nikita" or "Leon".

I saw an interview with Jamel Debbouze last night on TV5 (french tv). People will remember him from "Astérix et Cléopâtre" where he stole the show. This film just came out in France (the whole thing was a big secret, nobody knew what this film was about) and critics seem to say it's ok but not great, like a 6 or 7/10. It's actually more reminiscent of "Wings of Desire" than "Girl on the Bridge". It borrows it's style and esthetics from the Wenders film and uses the same "character lost in a symbolic city (Paris)" as it's main plot point. Critics say that the strength of the film comes from the Debbouze/Rasmussen relationship and that both actors are excellent. They criticize Besson however for "sitting between two chairs" and alternating between the old Besson of "Dernier Combat" and the new Besson of "The Messenger". To quote:
"The film alternates in style between that of the perfect student of cinema who knows his illustrated Godard and Wenders by heart, and the run-of-the-mill Hollywood romantic comedy with all it's pathos and melodramatic excesses."
The later mostly referring to the last 20-30 min. of the film. But as I stated, they gave big thumbs up to Debbouze and Rasmussen.

Jamel is an english to french translator for the safety tips given by a US playmate named Suzanne Stokes.

Finally got round to buying this yesterday... the "limited" set is very nice, with excellent PQ & sound (as you would expect), although TBH I think it's a little light on extras. The soundtrack CD that's included is pretty good, and well worth more than a few listens, plus the book of photos etc is a nice mini-hardback (roughly postcard sized). Got on fine with the film (despite the number of negative local reviews), and will try to take another look at it before the end of the week. All in, I'm fairly pleased with it for the 25€ I spent on it.
