Theatrical premiere or dvd?
Either way, this probably means that Criterion will have it on dvd soon enough.

Not sure you'd think that as it has very little distribution-wise to do with any of Criterion's other release. The last I looked, Hens Tooth Video owned the North America home video rights. Of course it's always nice to see a Criterion release.

Pro-B, any distributor for the UK yet? I think there was talk of Optimum releasing it but have heard nothing since.

Strangest artwork I've seen for the film:

Looks like Arrow Films are claiming another release of this.

This is a DVD press info for the UK market! (which has not been sent to news sites as of yet). The UK distrib is indeed Arrow Films.

I was going to run out and buy this, but for some reason I can't seem to get out the door.

I used to have this really nasty looking Polish poster of the film but I can't bloody find it.

Wow - that's great too.

But I bet the dvd cover will have some unimaginative screen-grab from the movie.

I'd really like to go out and buy this too, but I'm afraid that as soon as I do, the Criterion version will be announced. Perhaps you or someone else can go first?

I couldn't wait, so I ordered the UK dvd, and I just got shipping confirmation. I should have it by Friday and I'll report back with details as to the dvd's quality.

Having just seen this movie a few months ago, I'll wait a bit. Glad I held off on "Double Life..." which will be released by Criterion soon, plus we had rumors of Exterminating Angel being released by Criterion for a while. Patience my dvd lovers...

I'm holding as well - I received my region2 Double Life the week Criterion announced it. I'll try to be a little more patient with this one.

Okay, so I watched this new region 2 dvd last week, and I think it looked pretty freaking great.

Actually, I agree with what Gary says here:

"A fairly decent picture quality, similar to Buñuel's Los Olvidados, The Criminal Life of Archibaldo de la Cruz and El, all available on DVD. The aspect ratio appears to be maintained, it is fairly clean and acceptably sharp but if you are expecting Criterion level contrast you will be disappointed... but the DVD is progressively transferred and certainly watchable, if far too blown out (brightness) for my personal taste. The audio showed a few inconsistencies and there are no supplements but , aside from a recent R4 Australian release, this is the only available DVD of this film WITH English subs - for that reason alone Buñuel fans may want to pick it up."
http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDRev...atingangel.htm

But, I thought it looked a hell of a lot better than the other Bunuel titles he names. It also looks a lot better on my TV than it does in his screen-grabs. For some reason his shots look a lot more blurry than they did on my TV - and my TV's almost 40".

The sound is pretty good - very clear, no hiss, albiet sort of tinny.
Subtitles look really good, though there's a couple typos.
