The Unit--05.09.06

I thought it was a GREAT episode, though I wonder if this show will last. It just seems WAY too un-PC: The men aren't bumbling idiots, they kick as$ on a regular basis, an anti-gun guy uses a gun to save a woman from being raped, etc.

The "wives" part was also excellent for a change, with the queen mother being totally scammed in a way I never saw coming. I hope her husband and his crew can help her out.

This is my favorite new show in years, and I hope it's renewed!

(P.S. I only saw the first of the two eps., so I only referenced that one.)

I think it speaks volumes that yours was the only post regarding the 2 episodes last night. The ratings have fallen dramatically since it's premiere:

18.50 18.06 15.50 16.08 15.44 14.12 15.62 13.87 14.06

And the main reason for this is because of the continuing focus on the wives. The creators seem to want to cater to 2 crowds (men who are looking for action and women who want to see the wives point of view). In my opinion this cannot and will not work, as reflected by the ratings decline.

Last nights first episode was the weakest of the 2, since they focused on Molly's blundering away $40k to the con artist. I was really hoping that when the lady who was almost raped found out that she lost the money, that she would take the gun that she had and shoot Molly right in her smug face.

There are 2 more episodes left this season, next week. I really don't know if I will watch it next season, especially if they don't get away from the wives storyline. The Unit has to be either an action show (which is the way they keep selling it every week) or a wives soap opera, of which there are dozens of shows like that.

I missed the first episode because I have my DVR set to only save one episode of the show. So the first one was erased right after it finished. I need to change that for next week. I really like the show and hope it gets picked up for more seasons.

I stopped watching and since I don't have a DVR or the like, I choose "House" over this. I mean, it's an OK show but not worth my time.

I haven't watched the second episode, but the first one was pretty decent. I agree with other posters here about the split attention the show gives to the two storylines. I'd much prefer more concentration on the missions and perhaps leave just the last 10 or 15 minutes for the story "back home".

I actually felt that the story on both episodes was pretty good.

Molly being taken was such a kick to watch as she appears to be the one with all the answers. Glad to see her brought back to reality. Also liked the way she found her scam artist. Was surprised to see her sell out for so little of the original investment. I wonder who Sarah was invoking with her threats.

Jonas really wanted to try and keep his friend innocent. I believe the sell-out side was probably closer to the truth.
