I'm thinking of hooking up my gaming console to a LCD display via component. But what about the audio? The display is a computer display so it doesn't have audio input like a HDTV does.
How do you normally deal with the audio in this case? Do you use a computer speaker system? But it usually has a stereo plug type input though.

If we're talking about the 360 VGA cables, it comes with an adapter to adapt the two R/W audio cables into a single computer input, that you can plug into a computer or computer speakers. Personally, if you're going for the visual upgrade, I'd just go ahead and do the audio upgrade and get a 5.1 reciever and normal speakers, as the 360 vga cables also have an optical audio out.

Years ago I had my classic NES run thru a spare computer monitor, with the sound run to a hand me down receiver, with hand me down speakers. I used a Y adaptor to split the mono out to the two receiver inputs. It really gave those old 8bit games a real kick

You haven't lived until you've played Atari 2600 Space Invaders with a subwoofer!
