What do you think about this monitor (for the 360)?

Im about to buy this refurbished model for my 360 from Dell for $229. What do you guys think?

Dell E193FP 19-inch Flat Panel
19-inch, TFT, Midnight Gray, 1280x1024 Pixels, 0.294 mm Pixel Pitch, Fixed Stand, 15-pin D-Sub, 100 mm VESA Compliant (Part # G8432)

My current model is a 15 inch Flat Panel 1024 X 768 pixels.

Im assuming the new monitor will display a better picture though my current one looks beautiful too.

I would go for a Widescreen monitor personally, but that's just me.

What's your budget? I take it this is for your PC also.

You can get the Dell 20" WS monitor for just a little more on EBAY.

Why buy a 4:3 monitor for your 360? Are you sure you don't want to go with a widescreen?

BTW this is the one I'd get if I were you Samsung 940MW

Well if you use a 4:3 monitor you're going to be playing letterboxed. The Samsung I linked you to also doubles as an HDTV so it's a pretty sweet setup. I have the 17" Version but may upgrade soon.

Quick question. Is Wide Aspect the same as Widescreen?

I use the Dell 2001FP at 1280 x 1024 with my 360 and it looks pretty good, buyt not the same as high-def. Ideally, the 2405PW is the best widescreen monitor for the 360, but it's probably too pricey for you. Go with a Dell 2005PFW if you can swing it. You can usually find new ones on Ebay for $350 to $400 shipped.

Thanks for the replies thus far. Im currently saving up for an HDTV so I dont want to spend too much on the monitor as it will take away from my HD savings.

Well there are widescreen monitors near the price that you're looking at, while i'm not sure of the quality of the monitor you're looking at I can't vouch for these either but here is a link to a couple widescreen monitors in that rangeAcer 19" V7 19"
Unfortunately those are both VGA monitors, I don't know if that matters to you or not

And a viewsonic with RGB and DVI Viewsonic 19"

I'm using the 20" widescreen dell Flay mentioned for my 360 and it kicks ass. I couldn't justify the 24" for the price difference. You will really want to get a widescreen regardless of size or brand. This dell unit has four inputs on the back. Composite, S-video, DVI and, VGA plus a usb memory card reader built in to side. Mine was $375 (new) shipped off ebay around Christmas time frame. It may be cheaper now.

Thanx kakihara. Those are more in my range. I'll do a little research and see if they are good quality-wise. Im not looking for anything spectacular. As I said, this is just a stop gap for when I buy the HD. Id be satisfied with a picture quality as good as my current monitor (1024 by 768 pixels) as long as I got a bigger screen. Those two VGAs are both widescreen and have a resolution of 1440 x 900 so it'll be an improvement. As long as I find out they are reliable and wont go bad on me Im OK with those.

Thanx and keep it comin

when looking you'll want to make sure you see WXGA or WUXGA depending on what maker it is WXGA is widescreen and WUXGA and also WSXGA or SXGA. all that means in normal people is this monitor can support a widescreen resolution 720p or above. which is what you'll want for the 360 is something that does 720p support. also most LCD monitors look very bad when you're giving them a signal that isn't the native panel resolution, this usually only matters on the computer screen itself to read text etc. normally on full screen motion like DVDs or video game you will never know that it isn't in native panel resolution. i'd try to stick with samsung, but the dells are also good as of current they're made with an LG panel. if you do get a samsung and it has any dead pixel they'll replace your display for free. just some FYI. viewsonic also has a good mid priced display http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824116381
that would be my first pick if you're on a budget.

If you want to spend a bit more...this monitor/TV is great. I'm using it as my PC monitor and an extra TV. Built-IN HDTV TUNER also!

If you're getting a Dell, I'd recommend the 2007FPW or any of the 07 series for HDCP support.

Question, I've got the Dell 2005FPW. Been thinking a lot of getting a 360. But how does the 360 account for the monitor seeing as it's 16x10 and the 360 output is supposed to be 16x9? Am I missing something? Is it going to be slighty squished?
