Last Seduction 2-disc special edition (R2 - PAL) out on June 12
I LOVE this movie, a classic neo-noir.
Anyways, I can now dump the worthless R1 dvd with the horrible full-frame transfer.
Extras on this two-disc set include:
- Extended Director’s Cut of the film with deleted scene insertions as well as the cut of the standard release
- The Art of Seduction, a new, exclusive documentary about making the film with Linda Fiorentino, Peter Berg, Bill Pullman, director John Dahl and writer Steve Barancik (Domino, No Good Deed)
- Director’s commentary
- Commemorative booklet written by Dr Linda Ruth Williams, author of The Erotic Thriller in Contemporary Society
- An episode from TV series Fallen Angels – titled Tomorrow I Die – starring Kim Coates, Heather Graham and Bill Pullman
- Theatrical trailer
- Stills gallery

Interesting timing! I just traded in my R1 copy a few weeks ago. Not sure if I'll grab this or not, though... Given that Lion's Gate occasionally chooses some lesser known titles for their double-dips, I wonder if this set won't have an inexpensive stateside release sometime in the future.

Anyways, here's a nice thorough review of the new SE - sounds like a keeper!

I'd bet that it will eventually come to R1 - they already have commentaries, featurettes and deleted scenes - they just have to port them over. I'm just not sure when - 1 year? 3 years? who knows...

So until it hit the theaters, it was shot and shown in 4:3, hence it's OAR.

I ordered it from Amazon UK but I won't get it right away as they will hold it to be shipped with Quantum Leap S4 in a couple of weeks.

At least I think it's it. The release date is correct but it says it's one disc. You could email them and ask. They respond to their emails very fast.
The (2) on the title line should be the region and not indicating the sequel. There is a separate listing for the sequel.

Thanks dullboy. I cancelled my order at Amazon UK for The Last Seduction and Season 4 of Quantum Leap (R2 with the original music) neither of which has been shipped yet because of the June 26 release date of QL. I'm saving $6.40 ordering from CD Wow and I'd rather order from them anyway.

This contains two versions of the movie -- the original version, and a 'director's' cut. The director's cut adds in many scenes, but those added scenes are of marginal VHS picture quality. This is explained by the fact that the only copy of these scenes were on the director's personal VHS copy of the original cut. There is also a slight pause as the DVD branches from the original cut to these addititional scenes.
The description on the box says that this extended version is a director's cut, but the director's own commentary explains why he deleted many of the scenes himself -- although a few were trimmed against his desire for running time. Many of these scenes are typical deleted scenes, of little interest -- but a few of them flesh out the plot/characters quite a bit, and are well worth viewing.
The commentary and documentary are both valuable additions for those who like this movie.
