After reading the french press reviews, I decided to not spend money on this.
It seems the only positive point is Karin Viard's performance.
Critiques Presse (ratings of the french press)
Brazil 3/4
Positif 1/4
Cahiers du Cinéma 1/4
L'Humanité 1/4
TéléCinéObs 1/4
Le Figaroscope 1/4
Ouest France 1/4
Télérama 1/4
Zurban 1/4
Chronic'art.com 1/4
Le Monde 1/4
Inrockuptibles 1/4
Première 1/4
Studio Magazine 1/4
MCinéma.com 1/4
Ciné Live 1/4
Score 1/4
aVoir-aLire.com 1/4
ps: there's another film with E. Béart titled "L'enfer", the one from Chabrol.

According to DVD Times:
Momentum Pictures have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of Hell (L’Enfer) for 21st August 2006 priced at £19.99. Emmanuelle Beart, Carole Bouquet and Jean Rochefort star in the new film from director Danis Tanovic (No Man’s Land) which tells the story of three sisters united by a common tragedy in the past but distanced from each other in the present.
Extras include a making-of and the original trailer.

I had a look at the UK disc and it's very very poor. Awful film too which was disappointing.

So just how bad is this film? I read the DVDTalk review, but the reviewer admitted a prejudice against Danis Tanovic.
Also, has anyone seen this who's also read Dante's Inferno? I ask because I'm teaching a literature into film course this summer, and I wouldn't mind teaching Dante's Inferno again.

Since I happen to be the reviewer allow me to clarify a few things.
First, it is not a bad film (and I gave it 3 stars) it is an average one. In fact, all of the leads are incredibly strong and I noted it in my review. The story is likable but it isn't impressive.
Second, the major issue that I have with L'enfer is that the director does not allow his characters to grow - we see them suffer, we see them live their lives, we realize how difficult it is for them to cope with the past. And that is it!! We move on!
Third, as noted in the review I had a difficult time embracing any of the leads precisely because I did not like how the story was filmed (perhaps only Marie's demons moved me a bit as she fell for a man with impure intentions). Everything is rushed, there is no finesse (though there are some catchy vistas), and for the most part the nuanced storytelling Kieslowski was known for isnt't here.
By all means take a look at it but I do consider this project a letdown.

I thought it was above average, just.
Actins is good, nothing exceptional, shot well without being anything brilliant, pacing is a bit off especially toward the end and the script is very average.
It is however, much much better than the awful Heaven, the first film in the unfinished kieslowski trilogy.

I'm in agreement with most here. It didn't do much for me but for some reason many seem to have loved it at the Philly film festival. maybe they don't see that many movies.

^^I just saw Heaven for the first time a couple of nights ago, but unfortunately it was after I'd taken a Lunesta, so I don't remember the whole thing! But I remember that the ethical dilemma at the heart of the film was pure Kieslowski.
I guess that even though you gave it three stars, your review was less than glowing. I only have room for perhaps 5-6 films in the summer class, so I don't know if I want to waste one of them on an "okay" film. Also, I'm not sure to what degree the film would work with Dante's Inferno.
I may do an Amazon.uk order soon, because I want the re-released boxed set of Spaced. Looks like L'Enfer would only add another $14 to the order. I can handle that.
I wonder, though. If you'd watched the film and were completely unaware of the Kieslowski connection, would your opinion be different?

I've watched the film three times now (twice after I wrote the review) and aside from some extra appreciation for the sleek camera work from the second half absolutely nothing moves me.
I suggest you see the film first and decide for yourself instead of making a decision based entirely on what has been discussed here. After all L'enfer is not a disaster but I would certainly recommend that you focus your efforts on something else and introduce to your students a more meaningful production.
If it must be a recent film why don't you introduce either Haneke (Cache) or the Dardennes (L'enfant)? These will be excellent for class discussion as well.

Pro-B
edit:
On a second thought...if you are willing to take a risk look at Tiresia...superb film with a great, great story!!
