i require assistance upconverting from my oppo to my westinghouse

hello,
i have this tv

with this dvd player
http://www.oppodigital.com/
connected via dvi.
the instructions say to press the dvi button on the remote to enable the upconvert to hd. however when i do that i get the "no" icon on the screen (circle with a line through it). what am i doing wrong?

Make sure there is no disc playing in the player.

You can also do it while the disc is stopped. You may find it doesn't look any different. Westinghouse LCDs do a pretty good job of upconverting on their own.

i had no idea about the disc being an issue, i thought i had to do it per movie!

I haven't had my oppo in awhile, but I believe you can ONLY change the upcoversion with the disc is stopped.

Correct. He meant in addition to having no disc in the player, you can also change the output resolution when it is stopped.
