Your least favorite game objective?
You know what I'm talking about. That certain task the game makes you perform that you hate everytime you see it. Whether it's find 100 of something, or make it out of the collapsing building in under 2 minutes. Every game usually has more than one, but if you had to pick one, what would it be?
Playing Psychonauts has reminded me what my least favorite game objective is. Protect something. I hate with a passion any game where your progression depends on some useless character's survival. I'm trying to think of a game that implemented it, and actually made the game more fun, and I can't think of one.
Psychonauts spoiler and rant:
I had been loving this game until that point, and now I'm ready to break my controller because of it. So what do the rest of you guys hate that a lot of games make you do?

Increasingly annoying with each game released. Most recent offenders, Full Auto & Burnout.
Those "burning laps" in burnout are killing me. I'm pretty far into the game and these are taking me about 45 minutes each on average to complete. Not only do you have to have the perfect lap of not wrecking you have to have your boost running the entire time and even then you just barely make the goal time. It's insane.

Agreed on:
Escort missions
Time trials
XBOX has a really cool Predator game that has lotsa "Chase this person and kill him" missions that are timed and it ruins the game for me.

I hate escort mission, depending on the game, in GRAw the escortee is stupid and walks into the line of fire, but in SOCOM, you can at least tell them to stay, then go back for 'em.
I hate the score xxxx points. Like in PGR3, I like the racing, but didn't like the kudos aspect.

Burnout is ridiculus with the time trials. I've sat almost a foot away from my tv just to make sure I don't hit anything becuase forget about it you won't make the time.

Unnecessary stealth missions. Keep the stealth for Thief, and Splinter Cell type games. Stealth is awesome when you can choose to use it or not, but when you're forced to (a la Shadow of Rome and the Hulk) use them, it's nerve wracking.

You spend about half the game (on and off) with the president's daughter following you around. This would be an absolute nightmare in any other escort situation I've played, but the way it's implemented in RE4 makes it pretty damn fun. You can either tell her to stay put, or follow you, and when she follows you, she actually keeps up. She pretty much always stays right on your tail, and if you end up aiming in her general direction, she always ducks down to get out of your line of fire.
Even better is that, for the most part, the enemies don't try to kill her, but kidnap her. This means that even if you do screw up and she gets grabbed, you have a chance to take out whoever's carrying her off to get her back.

I just despise time trials. I've never played much of any racing game because I hate them so much, especially in Gran Turismo.

Although I generally don't like escort missions either, I haven't played that many of them so they haven't bothered me much.
Time trials: I don't mind them if they're a logical part of the game, such as in racing games and goals where you have to score a certain number of points (as long as they're not too hard). What I don't like is when you have to play through something again, but in much less time, in order to get some medal or work towards 100% completion. This is especially frustrating in the odd game that doesn't show your time elapsed/remaining on the screen (Rogue Leader, I'm looking in your direction).

Of course Escort Missions top the list.
I really hate some of the races you're forced to win in the Ratchet and the Jak games. Some take forever to pass.
The Gummy Ship in KH 1. MUCH improved in the sequel.
Jak 3 has a section that forces you to man a turret and get the "High Score" and I just can't pass it. How stupid is it for an otherwise brilliant action platformer to stop me cold to play a stupid turret level just to advance? I remember I had a turret-based game in the early 90's for the computer and I hated it then as well.

I'll seventeenth Escort Missions, especially when the escortee is a dumbass.
Repeating a dungeon is one of mine. Maybe I'm lazy, but in RPGs, if I have to explore a long dungeon, when I get to the end, figure some way for me to get out without having to retrace my steps the entire way, especially if there are no more enemies to fight. Of course, fighting your way *out* of the dungeon can be annoying too.
