That's not a great sign. A few weeks ago, I ordered an out-of-print item from DDCD that showed it as in stock. I never received a confirmation e-mail, and when I called to check on the order, they had no record of the order, and the item didn't show up in their stock. So sometimes their online stock is not indicative of their actual stock. Just a possibility here.

Course this rerelease could suck and not leverage the value of the current OOP version.

I didn't even know these were valuable. I bought Supergirl back during that Kmart sale, and I thought it was incredibly boring so I wouldn't miss it if I sold it. Hopefully eBay will have another 10 cent listing day before the new edition comes out with the new Superman set so I can get rid of it. Of course if it isn't worth at least $15 I probably wouldn't even bother with eBay.

The really interesting thing is how, for a time, retailers couldn't give these DVDs away. I bought several copies for friends overseas when DDD had the limited edition for even less -- $5! (The thought of them being collectible didn't even occur to me; I assumed, wrongly, they were being discounted since nobody wanted them!).

So yes, only 50,000 were made, but only in the last 6-12 months -- since it actually became scarce -- have they been valuable at all. For a long time you could have found them all over the place.

I just hope SUSPIRIA ends up the same; another Anchor Bay limited edition (still not sold out) that you can find cheap and really isn't worth anything now...but hopefully will be in the future once it actually sells out:)

As far as SUPERGIRL goes, Warner is re-issuing it, but who knows in what form. Anchor Bay's DVD has its ups and downs -- good supplements, but framing issues on the International Cut (if you notice the bottom of the frame is being clipped ever so slightly in relation to the Director's Cut), and presentation issues on the "Director's Cut" (which is actually the TV version, because it's in mono and has some profanity looped). I doubt Warner would go to the trouble of releasing a truly deluxe SUPERGIRL but you never know...it might be better (or it may not have all the supplements).

I hope so too. Also may potentially be true of other Anchor Bay L.E.s (they did make plenty of 'em). Fortunately I own many of them as I generally like Anchor Bay's catalog.
Oh, and my Supergirl is STILL on backorder. At least it shows up in the order status page.

Well, like I mentioned in my post before this--if your order showed up as backordered, then there's still hope. If it disappeared entirely, I highly doubt anything will come of it.

That's the new, 1-disc Warner re-issue -- it even has the same commentary track as the Anchor Bay disc -- but it lacks the long, so-called "Director's Cut" and the other extras.

Keep an eye out for the 2-disc, there will still be a demand for it!
